UCISA - Spotlight on Digital Capabilities

Sue Beckingham | @suebecks

Sheffield Hallam University

Who do you really think you are?

Abstract:

As we continue to embrace Web 2.0 we need to be mindful of the impressions our digital footprints leave. Taking a proactive approach to self-managing our virtual identity is increasingly important, as is taking opportunities to develop professional networks both online and off. This talk will consider how we can take ownership and the resulting positive impact as professionals.

Does Klout matter?

According to author Gina Carr "Klout matters today for those who are influencers or those who want to be influential. This is particularly true for people like authors, professional speakers, actors, marketing professionals and other thought leaders."http://mashable.com/2013/10/22/improve-your-klout-score/

Who do you really think you are?As we continue to embrace Web 2.0 in our social lives, how is this impacting on our digital footprint? Taking a proactive approach to self-managing your virtual identity is increasingly important. By leveraging your professional online presence it is possible to develop a professional network that extends beyond immediate connections and has the potential to open new doors to opportunities for scholarly activities. This talk will consider the impact of digital scholarship; the tools we may wish to consider using; and will raise awareness that we have much of value to share as professionals.
