Waimata School Whāia te iti kahurangi…To be the best that I can be” May 4th, 2016 Waikato Measles Outbreak You may have seen in the media that there have been widespread cases of measles throughout the wider Waikato area. Due to this we have had a timely reminder of the procedures that would happen should a student and/or teacher contract the illness. All un-immunised people (students and sta) would be required to stay away from school for a 2 week period from the date of diagnosis. This is why it is vital for our school to have up to date records of your child’s immunisation records on file. Please help us take best care of our school whanau by reporting sickness via text, email, or phone when your child is absent, bring in your child’s immunisation record if you are yet to do so, and most importantly seek medical assistance if you think that your child may have such an illness! 2016 Charter Targets Each year our Board of Trustees set targets to help maximise our students chances for success. This year we have refined our goals to address not only academic targets, but also factors that heavily influence overall student achievement. The two main areas that we are looking to improve on school wide this year are:

Consistent review of our progress towards these targets is needed if we are to achieve what we have set out to do. As part of this some whanau will be receiving letters outlining their child’s attendance rates from Term 1. This is not case of a ‘wrap around the knuckles’ but more so an opportunity to see where we can work in partnership to help increase your child’s attendance and provide some examples of the potential flow on effect attendance has on student achievement.

B.O.T Nominations This week sometime you should receive your B.O.T nomination form in the post. If you are keen to ‘put your hand up’ for Board nominations follow the process on the form and get them back into Jodi at the office. If you would like to discuss any aspect of the process or would like a bit more insight into being a Board member feel free to get in contact with Jodi or Mr Phillips at school.

Office Hours A reminder that school office hours are 9:00am - 2:30pm, Monday - Fridays. Any queries outside of these times can be made to a teacher.
