My magazine is based on:

Q Magazine

Q is a popular music magazine published monthly in the United Kingdom. Q Magazine target a similar audience to my magazine, publishing editions with both indie and pop artists featured. My magazine is similar to Q as it uses a similar colour scheme, black and white as the main text colours and then one or two bright colours featured within the scheme. Both magazines also feature medium close up shots of the main artists, using interesting shots with interesting colours following the colour scheme, the same as how my model is wearing leopard print makeup. Q magazine is published monthly and priced at £3.90, whereas my magazine is published weekly and priced at £2.50 – therefore rivalling with magazines like NME and Kerrang, whilst standing on the shelf along side Q. My magazine has more of a range of artists then NME and Kerrang, however as they are published at similar times and similar prices they would be rivals. Q Magazine is published by Bauer Media Group, founded in 1875. The Bauer Publishing Group comprises 282 magazines worldwide in 15 countries, as well as TV and radio stations.

Who are Bauer Media Group?

Bauer Media Group were founded in 1865 and are a family run business. Bauer Media Group distribute 38 million magazines a week, making it the UK’s biggest

publishing group. BMG comprises 300 magazines worldwide in 15 countries, such magazines like:

-MOJO

-Kerrang!

-QAnd many more.

Each one of BMG’s 300 magazines has its own individual audiences. This would benefit my magazine as BMG already have an audience, meaning I can target

sections of there already existent audience. For example my ‘Festival Guide’ would target the Indie/Rock audience of Kerrang! meaning they would buy my magazine to view the festival guide, which could result in my magazine gaining a consistent audience member for my magazine. However a downside of Bauer Media Group

distributing my magazine would be that my magazine may become ‘lost’ within the other magazines that BMG distribute due to them been quite similar. However BMG do not distribute an Indie/Pop magazine, only Indie and Pop magazines, meaning they would be interested in distributing my magazine and gaining a new range of

audiences.
