• PART 1

• Multiple Choice (MC)

• 55 MC ?s in 55 minutes

• 40% of exam score

• No penalty for guessing , stimulus based

• Short Answer Questions (SAQ)

• 3?s, 40 minutes

• 20% of exam score

• 10 minute break

• PART 2 - Essays

• Document Based Question (DBQ)

• 1 ?, 60 minutes including suggested 15 min reading

• 25% of exam score

• Long Essay Question (LEQ)

• 1? (given choice of 3), 40 minutes

• 15% of exam score

Specific Map Regions

Writing• SAQ (Short Answer Question)

• Approximately 13 mins per question (3?s) and must stay in box given in

booklet

• SAQ 1 will be using a secondary source, 2&3 will be a comparison or CCOT

• Asked to do two-three tasks per question

• DBQ (Document Based Question)

• Given 7 documents with essay question

• Even if you don’t know the content well, you can rock this essay by

analyzing information given

• Must find relationships among docs (corroboration/contradiction)

• Will need to use POV, purpose, historical situation, or audience

• Will practice working w/ docs A LOT

• LEQ (Long Essay Question)

• Must know content well including region, theme, and time period

• Can be a Compare/Contrast (CC) essay, a Causation essay, or a Change and

Continuity Over Time (CCOT) essay

• Will be given three options, all testing same skill, but from diff. time periods

How to Survive• Keep up with daily work including

reading homework

• I cannot possibly teach you

everything you need to know – you

need to be self-motivated

• Put forth your best effort at all times,

even when nobody is giving you credit

or “points”

• This will NOT be graded – you will get points for

completing it

• Let’s see how much we know!

• It’s okay if it’s not a lot, we’ll get there together

• Half of what you would normally get on AP testing

day

• 27.5 minutes for 28 questions

• You’ve got this! (Confidence is always a good

thing. Over-confidence, not so much.)
