Our students seem very happy to be back at school and look fantasc in their winter uniforms - just a reminder that all students MUST be in their winter uniform by Monday 8 th May. We welcomed the new term today acknowledging and rejoicing at the Easter joy of the Risen Christ. We all want to share the Spirit of Jesus everyday in our lives by recognising Jesus in each other and Make Jesus Real and for everyone! Lord, As we gather together as family and friends we invite you once again into our lives. May the hope of Your Resurrecon colour our days. May the promise of Your Spirit working in us, light up our lives. May the love You revealed to us, shape our giving. May the truth in Your word guide our journeys, and may the joy of Your kingdom fill our homes. As we gather together underneath the banner of Your life, we thank you for the wonderful life that we can now enjoy, and celebrate your glorious Resurrecon. Thank you Lord. Amen. Today we also commemorated ANZAC Day, remembering all those many men and women who contribute to the safety and freedom of us all, both past and present. I congratulate our students, under the direcon of Mrs Carall, for their very respecul and prayerful presentaon of this Anzac commemoraon. THE ODE They shall grow not old, as we that are leſt grow old; Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn. At the going down of the sun and in the morning, We will remember them. This term many of Year Three students will prepare to receive the Sacrament of Penance. The Sacrament of Penance reminds us of Gods uncondional love for us. We look forward to meeng with parents and Sacramental students at the Input Meeng next Tuesday 2 nd May at 6.30pm in the School Hall. This meeng is a compulsory component of receiving the Sacrament of Penance but more importantly, it is an opportunity for parents to support their child during their faith journey. This term we look forward to many events which will provide opportunies for our students to strive for personal excellence: Students in Years Two to Six may be parcipang in the UNSW Tests and/or the Australian Mathemacs Compeon. The Bible Reading Presentaons take place on Thursday 8 th June. This is a wonderful experience for students in Years Four to Six, where they can gain a deeper knowledge of Sacred Scripture as well as learning the skills of public oral reading. In Week Three, students in Year Three and Year Five will sit the NAPLAN tests. Please make sure, as much as possible, to avoid making appointments during this me. Tests will take place on the following days: Tuesday 9 th May: Language Convenons, Wring Wednesday 10 th May: Reading, Thursday 13 th May: Numeracy Please be assured that students are supported and encouraged to do their best in these assessments but to not overly stress about items that may be difficult for them. The purpose of the tesng is to give a snapshot of each child in comparison to others at this year level and at this me, across the State and Naon. However, it does not take into account specific circumstances of health, cultural background, English as a Second Language and personal family situaons and so comparisons and results need to be looked at carefully in light of each students parcular situaon. It can though, provide some important feedback to teachers as they connue to plan for each childs individual needs and development. The work samples viewed in studentsworkbooks and test books give very real evidence of their achievement and development and so the data that comes from NAPLAN is looked at in conjuncon with all other assessment carried out in the classroom. We look forward to the coming term with many wonderful experiences and opportunies for learning. Welcome to Week 1

26 April 2017 Bulletin No 2

Dear Parents and Guardians

Welcome back to our new term! It has been a lovely start to the term with cool and sunny weather! Our students seem very happy to be back at school and look fantastic in their winter uniforms - just a reminder that all students MUST be in their winter uniform by Monday 8th May.

We welcomed the new term today acknowledging and rejoicing at the Easter joy of the Risen Christ. We all want to share the Spirit of Jesus everyday in our lives by recognising Jesus in each other and Make Jesus Real and for everyone!

Lord, As we gather together as family and friends we invite

you once again into our lives. May the hope of Your Resurrection colour our days.

May the promise of Your Spirit working in us, light up our lives.

May the love You revealed to us, shape our giving. May the truth in Your word guide our journeys, and

may the joy of Your kingdom fill our homes. As we gather together underneath the banner of Your

life, we thank you for the wonderful life that we can now

enjoy, and celebrate your glorious Resurrection.

Thank you Lord. Amen. Today we also commemorated ANZAC Day, remembering all those many men and women who contribute to the safety and freedom of us all, both past and present. I congratulate our students, under the direction of Mrs Cattrall, for their very respectful and prayerful presentation of this Anzac commemoration.

THE ODE They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old;

Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn. At the going down of the sun and in the morning,

We will remember them.

This term many of Year Three students will prepare to receive the Sacrament of Penance. The Sacrament of Penance reminds us of God’s unconditional love for us. We look forward to meeting with parents and Sacramental students at the Input Meeting next Tuesday 2nd May at 6.30pm in the School Hall.

This meeting is a compulsory component of receiving the Sacrament of Penance but more importantly, it is an opportunity for parents to support their child during their faith journey.

This term we look forward to many events which will provide opportunities for our students to strive for personal excellence:

Students in Years Two to Six may be participating in the UNSW Tests and/or the Australian Mathematics Competition.

The Bible Reading Presentations take place on Thursday 8th June. This is a wonderful experience for students in Years Four to Six, where they can gain a deeper knowledge of Sacred Scripture as well as learning the skills of public oral reading.

In Week Three, students in Year Three and Year Five will sit the NAPLAN tests. Please make sure, as much as possible, to avoid making appointments during this time. Tests will take place on the following days:

Tuesday 9th May: Language Conventions, Writing

Wednesday 10th May: Reading,

Thursday 13th May: Numeracy

Please be assured that students are supported and encouraged to do their best in these assessments but to not overly stress about items that may be difficult for them. The purpose of the testing is to give a snapshot of each child in comparison to others at this year level and at this time, across the State and Nation. However, it does not take into account specific circumstances of health, cultural background, English as a Second Language and personal family situations and so comparisons and results need to be looked at carefully in light of each student’s particular situation. It can though, provide some important feedback to teachers as they continue to plan for each child’s individual needs and development. The work samples viewed in students’ workbooks and test books give very real evidence of their achievement and development and so the data that comes from NAPLAN is looked at in conjunction with all other assessment carried out in the classroom. We look forward to the coming term with many wonderful experiences and opportunities for learning.
