Stage one – Core Modules.
• Foundations of Advertising Media* You will focus on advertising communications and engage with the concepts used in the development of real advertising campaigns.

• Foundations of Marketing This explores the challenges faced by modern organisations in a fast moving and rapidly changing environment and in the face of rising consumer sophistication and increasing complexity and expectations.
• Digital Marketing Essentials Understand how digital media is deployed in marketing today.
• Introduction to Marketing Communications* This module provides an opportunity for you to study the basic concepts and methods of promotional practice.
• Understanding Consumers * Marketing and marketing philosophy are increasingly intrusive, pervasive and influential – we look at the way marketers are shaping our world.

Stage one – Optional Modules.
• Business Modelling for Marketing This module addresses the need to develop the important employability skills of problem solving, decision making, research and analysis in a marketing environment.
• Reflections on Work Based Learning involves following a programme of study centred on your workplace and job role.
• English for Business Studies Designed for those whose first language is not English. Develop English skills in reading, writing, listening and speaking in an academic and business context.
• Contemporary Chinese Studies The primary purpose of this module is to introduce basic Chinese (Mandarin) within the context of an understanding of the nature of contemporary Chinese society, to include an understanding of current economic, political, social and philosophical questions.

• Managing the Communications Process* This core Advertising module brings together areas of Branding, Integrated Marketing Communications and Campaign Planning, reflecting fundamental changes taking place in the industry. [LIVE CLIENT PROJECT]
• E-Marketing* The appropriate selection of appropriate, contemporary media platforms to perform a range of marketing functions.
• Professional Practice for the Creative Industries* You will develop a vision for your future as a Marketing Professional within the creative industries through a series of practical activities.
• Information for Marketing Decisions Build your skills and capabilities in marketing research; a live client research project will give you the opportunity to design and conduct a research project in response to a real research brief.

• Public Relations Management and Practice* explores a range of public relations management tools and techniques, as well as examining contemporary issues such as crisis management and investor relations.
• Learning through work (WBL) Provides you with the opportunity to examine and analyse the specific characteristics, skills and knowledge required to be a successful and effective employee in their particular business sector/type of organisation.
• Critical Reading for Business Designed for those whose first language is not English, develops in depth the general language skills identified in the first year.
• Career Development and Planning This module is designed to enable you to develop a knowledge and understanding of the labour market and professional standards relevant to your chosen career pathway.

• Advertising Consultancy Project (40 credits)* A live client brief culminating in an agency pitch. Working with our visiting professor- invaluable experience for those hoping to enter the advertising industry. [LIVE CLIENT PROJECT]
• Research Project* Independent study module – an opportunity to carry out an in-depth investigation of an industry, sector or brand.
• Issues in Advertising Practice* You will learn how to debate and interpret the key issues facing the industry – from ethics to standards, controversy and trends.

• Consumer Behaviour* Find out about consumer behaviour in a number contexts; from individual decision making, to group behaviours, to international behaviours, cultures, and trends.
• Customer Relationship Management CRM is a core business strategy that has far-reaching implications for companies. Gain an understanding of how to formulate and implement a successful CRM strategy.
• Real-Time Digital Content Hands-on development of your practice in imagery, video, copywriting and syndication for a digital/social media context. Includes experience in a marketing department.

New York Study Trip.As a student on the any of the three marketing programmes, you will also have the opportunity to join the wider study trip to New York. Networking and going behind- the- scenes with advertising and marketing professionals at a range of different businesses. These usually include fashion brands, advertising agencies and financial institutions.
The NY study trip is optional and the cost in previous years has not exceeded £1000 for flights and accommodation. Students normally allow an additional £200 for their expenses.
