Our Rules of the Library will follow the expectations at
Live Oak Elementary.
As a Live Oak Eagle, we will
Be Safe,
Be Respectful,
And Be Responsible!
To Be Safe, we will:
1. Walk quietly.
2. Keep hands, feet, and objects to myself.
3. Enter and exit the library in an orderly manner.
To Be Respectful, we will: 1. Follow library rules and procedures.
2. Follow directions the first time given.
3. Return books on time so others can read them.
4. Return books in the correct spot.
5. Use shelf markers or AR folders correctly to keep books in order on the shelves.
6. Wait silently and still in the line.
To Be Responsible, we will:
1. Take care of books and AR folders.
2. Keep books where I can find them.
3. Read, understand, and enjoy the books that I borrow.
Consequences: 1. Warning #1

4. Minor Referral
5. Phone Call to Parent
6. Major Referral
Check OUT Procedures:
• You may check out 2/3 books per week.
• Books are checked out for one week.
• A book may be renewed (checked out again) one time if no one is requesting the book.
• Make sure you READ the books that you check out.
• Have bar codes on AR folders and books ready for Ms. Debbie.
• Be polite and patient while waiting in line.
Check IN Procedures:
With Class:
• If renewing, place books in top bucket of cart.
• If returning, place books in bottom bucket of cart.
With Pass:
• Scan book bar code.
• Look at Check IN computer screen to find your name and book title.
• Place book on shelving cart.
Library Pass Rules:
1. Wear library pass around your neck.
2. Come straight to the Library.
3. Enter silently.
4. Follow library procedures to Check IN books.
5. Find books in your zone that you want to read.
6. Check OUT books.
7. Go straight back to class.
*If you cannot follow the rules, your privileges will be revoked.

Help keep our Library straight by
• Making sure all books are pulled to the front of the shelves.
• Push all chairs in.
• If you don’t know where a book belongs, place on the top of the shelf. Do NOT put the book anywhere on the shelf.
AR Program (Accelerated Reader)
• Locate your level in your AR folder.
• Choose a book in your range using the colored dots.
• Read the entire book.
• With permission, take a test on any school computer.
• Earn points if you pass the test.
To search for a book, use Destiny.
• Click on Internet Explorer.
• Go to the website http://www1.lpssonline.com
• Under Quick Links, click Destiny Management.
• Find Live Oak Elementary and click on the link.
• Click the Catalog tab at the top left of the page.
• Type in the search criteria and click one of the categories.
