Our Kidsborough Summer Program is filled with new and exciting adventures to be explored! We provide a safe place for social and emotional growth so students can create lasting friendships over the course of the summer. By relying on each other to learn and grow, students create a community of education and fun! See what we’re up to this summer! Review our latest Theme Descriptions for a detailed list of our fun summer weeks including: “Magical Mayhem,” “Trail Blazers,” “Experiments and Explosions,” “Buggin’ Out,” and our 4 th annual “Kidsborough Olympics!” Our summer program at WInchester will be led by Miss Joleen Stygles, Lead Site Coordinator. Miss Stygles and our Winchester site coordinators - Mr. Pickard and Mr. Curtin - will all be there throughout the summer along with the rest of our Winchester crew! They all bring tremendous enthusiasm, experience and leadership to our summer program in Winchester! The program will be located at the Vinson-Owen school for the month of July, and at Muraco for August. As always, we offer a super fun curriculum, a great mix of indoor and outdoor activities, daily or weekly attendance options, and our 1:8 staff-to-child ratio. KIDSBOROUGH SUMMER 2020 Theme descriptions and field trips!

Secret Genius Week 1 6/29 - 7/2 Everyone knows about famous scientists such as Albert Einstein, Nicola Tesla, and Galileo Galilei. But do we know who John Bardeen, the father of modern electrical circuits, is? What about Karl Landsetiner who made significant discoveries about our blood? Or even Caroline Herschel, who was the first woman to discover a comet? Join us as we take a look at the discoveries by lesser known scientists whose work has a huge impact on our lives today! Kidsborough is closed on July 3rd . Trail Blazers Week 2 7/6 - 7/10 Gather ‘round the campfire and have s’more fun at Kidsborough! We’ll learn all about the great outdoors while developing our survival skills. From building a shelter to tying knots, this week is sure to be in-tents! Field Trip: Take a Hike! - Wednesday 7/8 Magical Mayhem Week 3 7/13 - 7/17 We are pleased to inform you that you have been accepted at Kidsborough’s school of witchcraft and wizardry! Throughout the week kids will get sorted into their Kidsborough house, attend classes such as potions, care of magical creatures, and herbology, and even engage in a friendly game of quidditch! Don’t forget to bring your wands, cauldrons, and wizards robes for your journey to become the best wizards around! Special Guest: Animal Adventures Harry Potter Owl/Care of Magical Creatures Tuesday 7/14 Sense-ational Senses! Week 4 7/20 - 7/24 Our bodies have five senses: sight, smell, hearing, taste, and touch and we will explore all of them through art, science, and cooking activities! From painting with spices, learning the braille alphabet, and smell tests, this week will change your perception and help you to see, smell, hear, taste, and touch the world in a whole different way. Field Trip: Museum of Science – Tuesday, July 21 Experiments and Explosions Week 5 7/27- 7/31 Can water walk? Can you make a flower change color? Can you make a battery out of a lemon? What is elephant toothpaste? Learn the answers to these questions and more as we put on our lab coats and safety goggles to explore the fun side of science through hands on projects and activities. This week is sure to make a big mess and lots of memories! Special Guest: Mad Science –Winchester Wednesday 7/29 Go for the Gold! Week 6 8/3 - 8/7 Running concurrent to the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo, Kidsborough will learn all about the history of the Olympic Games and what it takes to become an Olympic athlete! On top of athletic training, research on countries/sports, and creating Olympic crafts, the week will culminate with everyone’s favorite event, the annual Kidsborough Olympics! Kidsborough Olympics! Thursday 8/6 Buggin’ Out Week 7 8/10- 8/14 We’ll all be busy as bees this week! Our budding entomologists will learn all about insects and bugs by exploring their habitats, studying their roles in nature, and seeing which bugs we can discover in our own outdoor spaces! From lady bugs to butterflies and grasshoppers to spiders this week is sure to BEE fANTastic! Field Trip: Franklin Park Zoo –Thursday 8/13 Riddle Me This, Puzzle Me That Week 8 8/17 - 8/21 What weighs more, a pound of feathers or a pound of rocks? What goes up but never comes down? What gets wetter the more it dries? Kids will puzzle until their puzzlers are sore - and then we’ll puzzle some more! From solving brain teasers to racing to get out of an escape room, this week we will test our ability to think outside the box! Keep it Cool Week 9 8/24 - 8/28 Join Kidsborough as we send off the summer by taking a polar plunge into some fun and chilly experiments. Painting with ice cubes, making ice cream in multiple ways, and determining the fastest way to melt an ice cube are just a few of the things we will do to keep it cool! What better way to beat the heat and wave out the summer than playing with ice and snow on a hot summer day? Splash Party!! Thursday 8/27!
