Monday, June 11th St. Barnabas Barnabas was a Jew, born in Cyprus, he sold his property,
gave the proceeds to the Apostles, who gave him the name
Barnabas, and lived in common with the earliest converts
to Christianity in Jerusalem. He persuaded the community
there to accept Paul as a disciple. He preached the Gospel
in Antioch as a companion of St. Paul. When a dispute arose
regarding the observance of the Jewish rites, Paul and
Barnabas went to Jerusalem, where, at a council, it was
decided that pagans did not have to be circumcised to be
baptized. Tradition has Barnabas stoned to death
at Salamis about the year 61.
MASS INTENTIONS
Wednesday, June 13th
St. Anthony of Padua Anthony’s wealthy family wanted him to be a great nobleman, but
for the sake of Christ he became a poor Franciscan Priest. One
day when a scheduled speaker failed to appear, the brothers
pressed him into speaking. He impressed them so that he was
thereafter constantly travelling, evangelizing, preaching,
and teaching theology through Italy and France. A gifted speaker,
he attracted crowds everywhere he went, speaking in multiple tongues; legend says
that even the fish loved to listen. One source of the well-known patronage for the
recovery of lost objects comes from a legend that, long after Anthony’s death, his
old prayer book was kept as a treasured relic, and one day it disappeared.
People prayedfor help in finding the lost item, a novice found it and returned it; he later
admitted that he had “borrowed” the book and returned it after receiving a vision of an
angry Anthony. Page 3
Sunday, June 24th 2:00 pm Eucharistic Adoration/ Rosary 2:30 pm Mass Followed by Testimony of Char Vance
Char Vance, President of Focus Worldwide Television Network, will be our guest speaker. Char is a convert to the Catholic Faith, whose testimony has touched the lives of many. She uses her charism of joy to share her discovery that God truly exists and miracles do happen! Dubbed “Our Lady’s Comedienne,” Char explains how the Blessed Mother brought her to Jesus and how her life was transformed.

The Church's social teaching is a rich treasure of wisdom about building a just society and living lives of holiness amidst the challenges of modern society. In these brief reflections, we highlight several of the key themes that are at the heart of our Catholic social tradition.
6. Solidarity We are one human family whatever our national, racial, ethnic, economic, and ideological differences. We are our brothers and sisters keepers, wherever they may be. Loving our neighbor has global dimensions in a shrinking world. At the core of the virtue of solidarity is the pursuit of justice and peace. Pope Paul VI taught that if you want peace, work for justice. The Gospel calls us to be peacemakers. Our love for all our sisters and brothers demands that we promote peace in a world surrounded by violence and conflict. Solidarity is not a feeling of vague compassion or shallow distress at the misfortunes of so many people, both near and far. On the contrary, it is a firm and persevering determination to commit oneself to the common good; that is to say, to the good of all and of each individual, because we are all really responsible for all. (St. John Paul II, On Social
Concern [Sollicitudo rei Socialis. . . ], no. 38)

Do you have an altar in your home? A place where you always go to spend time with the Lord? A place in which the atmosphere is pregnant with the glory of God so that all you have to do is sit there in order to feel His presence?
1. God will open a portal to Heaven in a place that’s dedicated to Him.
When a place is dedicated to Him, you can feel the difference. Whenever you sit down there, even if you are having the worst day ever, you can feel the presence of the Lord. The Holy Spirit ministers to you there, and His presence and work are powerfully manifest.
2. Having a dedicated altar in a quiet place feeds your spirit’s need for separation and solitude.
Everybody needs time alone with God. It doesn’t matter if you’re an introvert or an extrovert. If you’re alive and breathing, you need time alone with God! Jesus was huge into taking time alone with God. You can see this especially if you read through the Gospel of Mark. Making an altar in your home gives you a dedicated place to separate from the chaos of life and be with God.
3. Having an altar in your home helps you develop the daily discipline of spending time with God.
Having a place that is yours; that you love; that is beautiful to you; that is cozy and personal… makes you want to spend time in it! And when you are in the habit of spending time in that place, and knowing that that place is the spot you spend time with God, helps you spend more time with God! Train your body and mind to seek Him in your special place.
Pick a place that’s quiet and away from everything else.
Make it a place where you’re not staring at piles of laundry or at dishes that need to be washed. Make it a place where you can hide from your kids, your spouse, your
phone, your computer, or anything else that screams for attention.
Clean it up.
Believe it or not, the Holy Spirit rests on order, not on chaos. You will feel a tangible difference if you make your spot clean and orderly, no matter how tiny it is.
Place your Bible study and Prayer time materials close, so you can always find them.
A Bible, a Crucifix, a journal, a few pens, a highlighter, an inspirational or spiritual book you are currently reading, a rosary, prayer cards, Sacred items, meditation
music, candles or incense and some Kleenex .
Make it beautiful.
Your spirit and soul crave beauty. God made you that way. When the beauty of your special spot feeds you, you will be able to connect with God more–because beauty
comes from Him. Jesus is the Author and Picture of beauty. A pretty blanket, art on the walls, fresh flowers, the beauty of the surroundings help you reflect on the
beauty of God.
Falling in love with the Sacred Heart of Jesus by Christina Mead
Do you want to know what true love looks like? Here it is. “Behold this heart that has so loved men.” That’s what Jesus said of this picture of His Sacred Heart. I bet you’ve seen this picture before . . . or maybe you haven’t and that’s fine too. Either way, it’s worth learning about. This picture is loaded with meaning and I think you’ll love it as much as I do after I tell you about it. A long t ime ago there was this movement called Jansenism. They said over and over how sinful and incredibly unworthy man is. People started feeling bad about themselves and weren’t receiving Holy Communion. They also said that Christ didn’t die on the cross for al l people. Nope. Just some. But that wasn’t true! And God was not okay with us thinking that. So He did something amazing (big surprise there) and appeared to a nun named St. Margaret Mary Alacoque. He asked her to have this picture painted. Jesus wanted to show us that His heart is constantly, forever, always, eternally loving and forgiving us. He loves you. He loves me. He loves every person so intensely that His heart burns with that love. Look into His eyes and you can’t see anything else.
“The Divine Heart is an ocean full of all good things, wherein poor souls can cast all their needs; it is an ocean full of joy to drown all our sadness, an ocean of humility to drown our folly, an ocean of mercy to those in distress, an ocean of love in which to submerge our poverty.” – St. Margaret Mary Alacoque
In the picture you can also see the crown of thorns from His Crucif ixion. Even after His death the crown is sti l l there to remind us that Jesus knows what i t means to suffer. He knows what pain and sadness are. It reminds us of what Jesus went through to prove His love and open the gates of Heaven for us so we can be with Him.You know when you love someone and you “give them your heart?” That’s exactly what this picture is about. It ’s Jesus showing you and I how His heart is ours because He loves us with al l of i t . June 3rd is the feast of the Sacred Heart. Jesus asked Sr. Margaret Mary that people receive Holy Communion frequently and on the f irst Friday of every month go to Mass and pray to make up for those who aren’t grateful to Jesus. When you understand this picture the only way to respond is to love Him back. His heart breaks when people don’t appreciate what He’s done for them out of love. You and I can make up for that. Go bring joy to Christ ’s heart.
