In the refurbishment of Chertsey Lock, on the River Thames, Weber supplied highspecification weber.cem spray DS structuralrepair concrete.

After removal of the concrete, resin injectionworks to 200 linear metres of cracked walls was carried out. The freshly sprayed walls weredragged back with a feather edge rule tolevel the material and lightly sprayed with

water after the initial set of around one hour, to provide a good surface for the final pass of30-40mm of weber.cem spray DS. A furtherprocess of levelling was required beforesealing the surface to the specified finish.

weber.cem spray DS has been especiallydesigned for dry process spray application togive high early strength in 2 – 3 hours, reducedrebound and maximum application thickness.

Deansbrook Viaduct was badly damaged inApril 2011 when fire broke out in a scrap yardbeneath. Concrete repairs, parapet andbearing replacement, and new bridge jointswere essential to ensure the continued safetyof the structure.

The viaduct was constructed with reinforcedprecast concrete beams and when subjectedto the severe heat, the soffits of the concretebeams spalled and delaminated. The gapsthat formed between the beams were filledwith weber.cem spray DS, structural repair

concrete which is ideally suited for the repair offire damaged concrete structures.

weber.cem spray RS, was used where a morerapid strength development was required, it isparticularly valuable when application ishampered by restricted access and difficulttime constraints.

The installation of temporary bearing propsrequired the use of weber.tec EP mortar, a high-strength epoxy resin mortar for repairs, beddingand fixing. This high performance mortar isstronger than concrete in less than 24 hours.

The elevated motorway sections of the M5, M6 and M54 handle one of Britain’s busiestmotorway routes in the heart of the midlands.These six lane motorways are constructed aselevated viaducts to avoid the existing roadand canal networks below. These structureshave been plagued with problems relating to the condition of the concrete cross head beams and soffits. Delamination of the concrete is wide spread and steelreinforcement has corroded unabated for a number of years.

Working in conjunction with the Highways Agency,Weber specified Five Star Repair Concrete CP,a flowable, micro concrete suitable for thereinstatement of defective concrete whichfully complies with the Highways Agency Area9 specification class 29F repair concrete.weber.cem spray DS was also used to form an overlay to the titanium ribbon cathodicprotection system.

Slough was the first privately owned powerstation and an early innovator in CHP(Combined Heat & Power) supplying steam toheat factories and commercial units all overthe industrial estate. It now has gas fluidizedbed reactors and can use waste paper andplastics collected on the estate as fuel.

The concrete shells of the cooling towersneeded a structural upgrade as part of themaintenance program in order to prolong their

service life. Surface repairs were carried outusing weber.cem bondcoat primer andweber.cem HB30 high build hand placedrepair mortar. Structural reinforcement to theouter shell was provided by the WeberComposite System based on the fibre wraptechnique.
