Communities for Children Alice Springs

Seeking Expressions of Interest

Background information:The Australian Department of Social Services (DSS) has funded Anglicare NT as the Communities for Children (CfC) Facilitating Partner (CfCFP) for Alice Springs. CfCFP is seeking Expressions of Interest from organisations that can deliver positive and sustainable outcomes for vulnerable children and families (pre-birth to 12yo).

The Objectives of CfC are to: Improve the health and wellbeing of families and the development of young children, from

before birth through to 12 years with a focus on: Healthy Young Families : support families to care for their children before and after birth

and throughout their early years. Supporting Families and Parents : supporting parents to provide children with secure

attachment, consistent discipline and quality environments that are stable, positive, stimulating, safe and secure.

Early Learning : providing high quality early learning opportunities in the years before school, early identification and support for children at risk of developmental and behavioural problems, and assistance for parents in ways to stimulate and promote child development and learning from birth.

School Transition and Engagement : supporting children and parents to make a smooth transition to school, and work with local schools to assist children and families with their ongoing engagement with school.

Create strong child-friendly communities that understand the importance of children and apply this capacity to maximise the health, well-being and early development of young children at the local level.

Anglicare NT Alice Springs is seeking Expressions of Interest from community organisations to deliver activities in Alice Springs, which complement the focus of the CfC initiative (listed above). Decisions related to the successful CfC funded services will be considered based on identified community need.

Contracted services need to ensure that their CfC Activities: Are accessible to members of the community who meet target group criteria, including

Indigenous people and culturally and linguistically diverse communities. Use early intervention and prevention approaches. Lead to improved outcomes for children using listed DSS approved evidence-based approaches,

or are working towards meeting criteria for an evidence-based programme. Have active strategies to encourage access and engagement by vulnerable and at risk children

and their families, and are provided free of charge.

Have appropriately qualified staff and are committed to staff supervision, development and training.

Have staff with the necessary skills to identify vulnerable and at risk children and families and provide or refer them to appropriate services.

Demonstrate cultural competency. Have the capacity to meet contractual requirements, including data collection and reporting.

In developing your Expression of Interest you are asked to consider: What are the most vulnerable groups in the Alice Springs community? What are the current gaps in services? What are the emerging needs in the community? How will the proposed activity fill these gaps? What are the outcomes you predict the proposed activity will deliver? How will you build sustainability over the funding period so the activity continues beyond the

scope of the funding?

Funding Considerations/Principles: The funding for the current EOI process is from 1 July 2015 to 30 June, 2017. The intention is to fund 3-6 Community Partner Activities in Alice Springs, with a cap of

$190,000 per activity. Activities may be from 6 months to 2 years in duration. A proportion of funding will be available for establishing innovative projects. Please identify if your organisation is currently seeking or receiving funding for the proposed

Activity from another funding source. In accordance with the DSS funding criteria, a proportion of successful applications need to

demonstrate an evidence base. Further information on this assessment criteria is provided at: https://apps.aifs.gov.au/cfca/guidebook/programs
