Writing Activities

Every day:Practise writing something every day. We have done lots of ideas previously you might want to revisit. You could ask your child what they would like to write about? They might want to write a story, a list or a song.

Support them with their ‘Fred Talk’ to try and achieve this. This may help, just focus on the single sound Alphabet Mat and then set 2 and 3 sound mats.

Activity 1: Letter formation - we have not done this for a while and this is a chance to make sure you are still making sure you have good formation. Click here.

Activity 2: Word search - click here. You can find the words and then try to write these words and then read them. You might be able to describe the shape using the correct language - use your phonics to help and your adult will show you how to spell it correctly.

Activity 3: Days of week - click here. Linking to your reading, now have a go at writing the days of the week.

Reception do not have a return to school date yet. At some point they will return, so you could use this to begin to discuss the way school might be different. Some of the activities they will still be able to do but others they won't be allowed to - you can also use this. When it is safe, children will be able to return and hopefully this can be a stepping stone to introduce how things will be different.

Have you done some great work, would you like to show your teacher? Take a photo or video and email it to: [email protected]

We will reply and let you know what a Superstar you are being!
