Over the week I plan on developing my audience profiles so that I have a better understanding of who I need to adapt my project for. As well as this I am going to continue with my experimentation that I started in the half term break.

Before I carry out any more practical work, I am going to ensure I know exactly who this project is aimed for and what kind of people would take an interest in what I am doing. I have planned that I can finish the audience work within a day and then I will focus on the practical experimentation. In doing this I will look into illustration and colour schemes to see what would be most suitable for what I am doing.

I now have a much better understanding of the audience who would be interested in the project and how I can adapt my work to work in the most effective way. I have also been able to develop my practical work and will continue this into next week as I feel I need to learn more before I begin the production of the video.

What is your Learning Task/Assignment for the week? (What are you going to do in the week)

Over the week I am going to finish my experimentation by creating a storyboard and animatic to help me visualise the timing of the final sequence. This will help me understand what needs to be done in each shot throughout the animation.

How do you plan to achieve this? (SMART Targets)

Through previous work I have been able to develop an effective way of creating storyboards and animatics at the same time. By creating each frame in Photoshop I can import them into a sequence and work out the timing of the sequence as well as the content of each shot. This overall saves a great amount of time as it sets up a comprehensive plan for the animation and makes the entire production a clearer process. Once I have completed this I plan on beginning the design of the video which will be used in the final piece. This will allow me to move onto the animation production early next week.

Learner Progress TrackerReflection on the work you have produced this weekThis week I have been able to accomplish what I set out to do. I have finished both the storyboarding and animatics. I am happy with the outcome of these as I now have a much clearer idea of what needs to be done next week during production. Also, I have begun preproduction by designing the first few shots of the sequence. To make the process more efficient I am going to design each shot carefully so that they can be used more than once throughout the sequence.

This week I plan to work on my final animation. I predict that this will take roughly two weeks to finish so I aim to complete half of the animation this week.

If I ensure that I used my time efficiently, I feel that this is a realistic goal. I think if I complete 1 – 2 shots each day, this will make my target a lot more reachable. I also plan to work on the animation at home after college each day so that I can have as much time as possible to work on the sequence. Using After Effects and Illustrator, I have been able to develop a production process throughout Unit 12 that will make my work more time efficient which is crucial since I am now realising how ambitious my project is with the time frame I have to work with.

Overall, I am happy with what I have been able to produce. Although it feels like I have made much progress, I have been able to develop all of the assets for the video which means that the remaining part of the sequence will be easier and faster to create. Now that I have done this I feel that I am in a good position for next week to finish the video. I’m also glad that I used Adobe Dynamic Link as this has helped me watch the video in its entirety so far without having to render. This allows me to save time and check to see what my progress has been so far.

I have received positive feedback so far. I have spoken with the tutors about how the use of text in the video in certain shots might feel out of place, so I now feel more aware of where I can use text in the video to accurately inform the audience without taking anything away from the story.

Since I created all of the assets last week, I feel that this is a very realistic task. This is because it is now much easier to drag and drop the background or sprite that I need into the composition. This helps me save time as it means that I can also recycle some of the animation used for previous shots which is idea since this can be a very time-consuming process, especially for character animation.

Learner Progress TrackerReflection on the work you have produced this week

Overall, I am happy with my progress. I have been able to finish the video in its entirety and will render/check for any issues early next week. I chose to do this as I underestimated how long it would take to finish the video as well as how long it would take to render the entire sequence. I think this shows that I need to be more realistic about my time estimations in the future. However, I feel that I am now in a good position to completely finish the video next week as well as start on my evaluation.

Overall, I have received positive feedback on the work I have produced. I am happy with people’s reactions as it shows that the work is to a good quality and that it is near a professional level. This week I am going to firstly render my video and check to see if I can quickly improve/fix any parts of the sequence. Then I plan on working on my production processes whilst also proof reading the entirety of the portfolio so far.

Firstly, I am going to render the video as this will take a considerable amount of time to finish. I can render this in the background, so it shouldn’t affect my progress on my other tasks. After this I plan to work on my production processes as this could also take some time to complete as I have an extensive amount of work to talk about. I feel that this is a realistic target if I split the week into the 2 sections I have for the production processes. I feel that I have taken enough screenshots/gifs to sustain my work so I feel that completing this within a week won’t be a problem.

Learner Progress TrackerReflection on the work you have produced this week

This week I was able to easily finish my tasks with the time I had. Firstly, I was able to render the video on the first day of the week which allowed me to then move onto the written work which spoke about the work I did in pre-production and production. I feel that this puts me in a good position to begin my evaluation next week and do one last check to see if I can improve my portfolio in any other way. Overall, I am happy with the work I have been able to produce and what I have been able to achieve through this project.

Again, I received positive feedback regarding my video, now that it has rendered fully I have been able to show the sequence to people in its entirety. The only element I would have liked to of changed was the facial expression of the characters however this is something I can talk about in the evaluation of my work.

Last week I feel that splitting the work up into smaller sections for each day helped me work more efficiently so I plan to do this again this week. I feel that if I can complete 2 – 4 questions a day I will easily be able to finish the evaluation with time left over to improve other parts of my portfolio before the deadline.

This week I have been able to complete the evaluation in good time. I feel that clearly outlining what I had to do each day helped me as I knew exactly what I needed to do and if I was making good enough progress to finish the work I needed to do. After finishing my evaluation, I proofread my portfolio and ensured that all referencing was done. I found this a good way of ensuring that everything was done. Overall I am happy with what I have been able to achieve throughout the project and feel that what I have learnt will be fundamental for projects in the future.
