What we are going to do is use one of the analysis tools that is in Excel called a pivot table.A pivot table allows for analysis of for example sales figures so that in a large set of data you can easily see who has sold what to who
Select insert in your excel ribbon
First thing that we need to do is when pivot table dialogue box is open,select data so that excel know what data you want to deal with

Now we need to say where we want the pivot table report to be placed
specify that we want a
Select ok then your page will then look like this- A PIVOT TABLE WINDOW
What we need to do is open up the pivot table field list
We do that by clicking away from the pivot table window
So your page then looks like this(nb field list-this can be moved around page)
Notice that all of the headings of the data you specified in the range when you opened up your pivot table are here
Now we need to start using the PIVOT TABLE field list drag customer id down to the row labels box

Now we nee to specify the number sold by dragging the field heading for number sold into the values box,so it looks like this:
Notice now that excel starts to populate the data showing how many items in total have been sold
Now we can add additional data specifications into our PIVOT Table report by using the month an item was sold
We are going to now drag down the month of sale into our report filter box

You can then choose multiple months to select to analyse data select this symbol then it will look like this:
Select the all tab
Then select ok.You will notice that all are now ticked and you can now select ok.
Your pivot table will now look like this:

This will then look like this. Select drop down arrow and it will allow you to specify monthly sales
All of the months have been selected showing the sales data for each month
