Homework Children will begin to receive homework from this week. It will be sent home on a Friday and we ask that it is completed and returned no later than Wednesday the next week. Each week your child will receive: A piece of English Homework A piece of Maths Homework A list of spellings (tested on a Friday) A reading book appropriate to your child’s reading ability – to be changed twice per week. (As well as word recognition, a key focus on home reading should also be comprehension.) In addition to the homework we ask that you encourage your child to read as much as they can at home either independently or sharing a book with an adult.

PEClass 7 will be having PE sessions on Monday and Friday afternoons. One of the sessions will be led by Emma, a gymnastics coach.

We kindly ask that all children bring their PE kit into school at the beginning of each half-term and we will return them to you at the end of each half-term.

Cursive Handwriting

Children in Class 7 will be joining their handwriting using a cursive style. Please encourage your child to join their handwriting when completing homework as this will support their work in school.

Please can you make sure all of your child’s belongings are clearly labelled? If you have any queries or concerns, please feel free to pop into class to see me.Many thanks and I look forward to working with you and your child.

Dear Parents,

A very warm welcome to Wynyard Church of England Primary School. It has been a busy start to the new term but the children are settling into Class 7. Our termly newsletter will let you know what will be happening in our class and offer

Our theme this term is Tapestry of Nations.

During this term the children will be learning about:

British Railways including “The Railway Children” by E. Nesbit (History and English)

Eastern European Countries and Cultures (Geography) European Art and Artists (Art and Design) Global Food (Design and Technology)

We will also be learning about many other exciting topics. If you have anything at home which relates to our topics, please send it into school.

The Bible Jesus – The Son of God Christmas

Online LoginsAll children will receive a login and password for each of our online school learning portals including Purplemash and Bug Club.

Star of the Week!

Each week one child from Class 7 will be awarded Star of the Week. This will be awarded for excellent behaviour and hard work in the classroom. The winner will have their photograph printed on the Wynyard newsletter and will be presented with a certificate to keep and a trophy to keep for a week.

Guitar Lessons

We are fortunate to be able to take part in guitar lessons with the Tees Valley Music Service this term. Guitars will be provided and lessons will take place in school from Tuesday 19th September.

Robinwood Residential

In May 2018 children in Class 7 will have the opportunity to visit the Robinwood Activity Centre for a 3-day residential visit. The centre is very popular with school groups. There will be an information evening for parents on Thursday 5th October at 5.30pm.

Class Blog

I am currently in the process of setting up a class blog for the children to publish their work online. When the blog is set up the children will receive the web address including a username and password.

New Class Teacher – Mr Waller

I am delighted to be teaching Class 7 this academic year and to join the staff team at Wynyard Church of England Primary School. I have spent the past ten years teaching at Holy Trinity Rosehill C.E. Primary School in Stockton where I was a Senior Leader and taught a variety of year groups including Years 2, 5 and 6.
