YMCA Camp Potawotami hasprovided friendship and fun,

challenges and character-buildingin a beautiful, safe environment forover 90 years. We look to the 2012summer with great expectations.

It will be a time in your childs life that will providepositive memories for a lifetime.

The planning for a successful summer is an ongoing pro-cess that we take very seriously. YMCA Camp Potawotamiis a place designed for children. Our staff understandsthat children need a place to explore new ideas andactivities and to identify their role in the community.

Camp is skill building. Camp is making friends. Camp ischaracter building. But YMCA Camp Potawotami is morethan that: its about learning who you are, andbecoming what you want to be. Its about buildingrelationships and self-con dence. Its about growingand nding the excellence you are capable of.

THE ABCS OF CAMPING

EXPERIENCEAt YMCA Camp Potawotami, we focus on the ABCsof Camping working to increase campers sense ofaccomplishment and belonging while they learn aboutpositive character traits and values. Our tools are

well-trained staff, carefully planned programs andsafe, clean facilities.

Campers gain a sense of accomplishment bytrying activities and developing new skills for manycampers, being away from home for a week is anaccomplishment in itself! Making new friends andbeing a good friend in return helps campers gain asense of belonging . Each person is a valuedpart of the YMCA Camp Potawotami community.

We emphasize character traits and values in manyways during the week. YMCA Camp Potawotamiplaces an emphasis on learning, growing anddoing your best. The character traits we focus on

are Honesty, Caring, Respect, Responsibility andFaith. Our unique Wampum Bead programencourages campers to choose a character traitto work on during camp and throughout theentire year.

Our staff undergoes extensive background andreference checks as well as a complete training onsafety issues, First Aid and CPR. Plus our ve-to-onecamper-to-staff ratio makes sure everyone has thebest camp experience possible.

MINI CAMPAGES 6-8

This is a campers rst step into anovernight experience, with a two-night,three-day introduction to camp. We providea safe, comfortable and fun program forour youngest overnight campers. Our staffguides campers through the week with acaring approach and individual attention.

Our counselors help younger campers learnnew skills and build self-con dence. Thisfun program, loaded with traditionalcamp activities, prepares your child fora full week of camp in the future.

These week-long camps focus on skilldevelopment and overall achievement.Campers have the opportunity to try many

camp activities and develop skills in somecourses of their own choice.

The cabin group is the heart of our camp,where our trained counselors help campersfoster respect for themselves and others intheir group. Campers make new friends andexperience new activities.

ARTS CAMP (FAME)

FAME Camps mission is to bring multi-cultural arts to all children. MasterFAME teachers mentor campers to helpthem reach the peak of their creativ-ity. Through these programs we chal-lenge the budding artist in everyone

through innovative activities that areboth fun and exciting in an atmosphereof nurturing acceptance. FAME Campprograms span the art of music, drama,poetry, composition, art and dance.

OUR OUTSTANDING

FACILITIESYMCA Camp Potawotami has large athletic elds for soccer, softball and othereld sports, basketball courts, Gaga Pits, a large waterfront activity area, a sandvolleyball court, archery and ri ery ranges, low and high ropes courses and anoutdoor climbing wall. Campers live in cabins that are clean and well maintained,with screened windows, built-in bunks and electricity, ush toilets and showers(Teen Adventure Camp and Leaders-in-Training stay in seasonal cabins amenitiesare nearby in a central bathhouse). Everything is provided to make camperscomfortable and happy in a beautiful, scenic setting.

Cabin life is a great way to get to know othersand make lifelong friends! Each cabin comes withthe essentials, including a live-in counselor. Miniand Youth Campers stay in our Voyager Lodge orSharples Center. Teen Adventure Camp and Leaders-in-Training stay in our traditional cabins.

the company!
