THE CATHOLIC SCHOOL PUPIL PROFILE
AT ST. JUDE’S
This half term’s value—Intentional and Prophetic.
Some food for thought for our pupils about being
Intentional and Prophetic:
This week in assembly, we began to look at
the lives of some of the saints who were
intentional and prophetic in the way they
lived their lives. We spoke about St.
Teresa of Calcutta and St. Oscar Romero.

CORPUS CHRISTI PROCESSION
We had a rather damp celebration of the
Eucharist on Tuesday with a votive mass for the
feast of Corpus Christi. The children were meant
to process with the Blessed Sacrament after
mass but the rain was torrential! We did have
Benediction as part of Mass.
Y2 SIGNING CONCERT
Today, Year 2 went to take part in a sign language concert with
different schools from Birmingham. The children have been
working hard to learn the songs all year and this showed with the
amazing performance they produced. Mr Brownhill, Miss Clay and
Mrs Orton were so proud of them all! Also, a big thank you to the
parents who came to support the children this morning.
BIKEABILITY
Some of the pupils made
a great start to their
Bikeability training on
Monday. However, rain
soon put an end to that!
Unfortunately, pupils
couldn’t take part on
Tuesday. We are going
to rearrange this.

SPORTS AND STORIES
Thank you to all the parents and staff who helped
out and took part in our sports and stories event
this week.
The children had a wonderful time!
SCIENCE WEEK
Some children from Y4 went to St Bernard’s School
to learn about space. They took part in design
experiments and explored the planetarium.
“We enjoyed going inside the dome to look at the
stars and what the Romans believed about the stars
and planets. We worked in groups to design a
parachute and we got to test our creations”.
Seven children from Y5 attended a Science workshop at Bishop Challoner and
carried out a variety of Scientific experiments.
Lowgon: “I helped design a car for an egg to travel safely in”.
Kian: “I liked the fact that we partnered up with children from different
On Tuesday some children from Y3 went
to St Edward’s School. They made a
magic medicine and
some super shrinking
slime.
Kacey: “I enjoyed
making the medicine
because we tested
different liquids
to check if
they were
alkali, acid or
neutral”.
This week, across school, we have been exploring the word Vocation and what it actually means. We
have learnt that vocation in its truest sense, is not just about the career you want to pursue as an
adult. It is about our universal call to holiness where we are all asked to say ‘yes’ to God. It is also
about the choices we make about how we want to live our lives, about being the person God is calling
us to be and how we can serve others. And then, we are asked to consider our jobs as adults using
our God-given talents well. Here’s what some of our pupils had to say:
FATHER SIMON’S VISIT
Yesterday, as it is Vocations Week in school, Father Simon came to talk to the
children about his calling to the faith. Year 5 asked some extremely interesting and
at times challenging questions. Both Father Simon and the children enjoyed the time
they spent here.
“When Father Simon visited us we learnt interesting things about him and how he
became a priest. It was an informative visit from him”. Roya and Luliya
MADISON-Y6
“I think the purpose God
has given top me for my
life is to give a child a
good home”.
JIA-Y5
“I think God
wants me to
be resilient
and
spectacular”.
DION-Y4
“A vocation is a divine calling from God”.
HOLLIE-Y3
“I want to be a person
who never gives up,
helps other people and is
loving”.
ROCCO-Y1
“God wants us to be nice, respectful,
mature, thoughtful and loving to
others”.
NYOLA-RECEPTION
“God wants us to help
people who have no food
or no money”.
