This is my first newsletter as the substantive Headteacher of Thameside Primary School and I couldn’t be more honoured. Thank you so much to the pupils, staff and families who have supported me since Christmas … and to those who decorated my desk with these little silver stars! This week: the children have been visited by a dinosaur in Foundation Stage; Year 2 had a visit from a nurse as they are learning about Flor-ence Nightingale; some fantastic work on fractions has been taking place in Year 5; and Year 6 have been telling us all about their time in Wales!

We are still looking for volunteers for our Aspiration Afternoon—please get in touch if you could take part on Thursday 14th March by telling a group of children about what you do. It is fine to email the school if you have lost the original letter/slip. On Friday 1st March, the TSA are hosting a quiz night in the school hall. Tickets are £10 and includes a buffet!

bursar to make agreements to pay smaller amounts on a regular basis ([email protected]).

The current Reading School Meals contract is coming up for renewal and Reading Borough Council would like to hear your views about what is important. This feedback and insight will be built into plans for the new contract, due to start in September 2020. An online survey is available until 28thFebruary for you to share your views and com-ments School Meals Parent Consultation Survey Can we also remind parents that we promote healthy living and eating through our curriculum and so the delivery of fast food to the office is not something we will support as an alternative to a child’s daily packed lunch.
