Program
Audience:
Higher education facilitators for online educational classes are guided as
a group in the 3-day training program in a synchronized learning
environment, such as trainers lecturing trainees in a classroom environment.
There are certain qualifications of these facilitators that are addressed in the
training program during lectures and activities. The qualifications are as
follows: Current skill sets, experiences, and knowledge in online facilitation
of learning.
Target
Audience:
Higher education facilitators for online educational classes
Skill Sets: Online facilitators must have current skill sets, such as knowledge
regarding technological tools to incorporate technology and online
communication strategies in the classroom.
Current
Experiences:
Training for online facilitators could include familiarity with various
technological tools, such as PC or Macintosh computers and mobile
devices. The facilitators are also experienced with online
applications and virtual classrooms to encourage online
participation.
Assumed Level
of CurrentKnowledge:
Intermediate level could include 2-3 years of experience of online
participation in virtual classrooms

Program Goals:
Higher education facilitators for online educational classes are
required to have key skills to guide successful distance learning. During the
training program, training elements are introduced to help facilitators
ability to focus on online instructional strategies.
Key Skills: Quick response time during online communication
Accessibility during classroom participation
Ability to handle difficult situations among student participation
Creative skills to encourage ongoing classroom participation
Organizational skills when assigning instructional tasks, rubrics,
and/or grading
Training
Elements:
Current technological tools are introduced during training sessions while
involving the following:
Maintaining open communication/accessibility
Creativity
Organizational skills

Program Goals
& Objectives:
Goal #1:
Establish familiarity with current technological tools to incorporate
technology in the online classroom.
Objective:
Given examples of current technological tools by trainers, the trainee will be
able to demonstrate proper use of the technological 3 out of 5 times.
Goal #2:
Establish instructional strategies to maintain open communication and
accessibility by gaining ongoing feedback in the online classroom.
Objective:
Given instructional strategies by trainers, the trainee will be able to
demonstrate 4-6 turn-taking skills to gain feedback by asking and answering
what questions with no more than 5 errors.
Goal #3:
Establish creativity and organizational skills in online classroomsObjective:
Given professional rubrics to reference, trainees will be able to discuss
creative instructional strategies and provide organizational tools with group
partners 3 out of 5 times.

Final essay and online performance tasks will be issued to all trainees and
scored by trainers

gather feedback about overall training experiences and instruction
All learners are reminded prior to activity and during activity that
information will be gathered through formative assessments to promote
professional training and ensure quality.
