Training program mandate

� GVF members directed GVF to establish a VSAT installer training program in 2002

�  Initial mandate was to build a global cadre of training technicians available to the industry, to enhance the quality and reputation of VSAT as a solution. – Subsequently interference prevention was added as a priority

� By 2005 volunteers had trained about 250 students in classes in US and Africa

� We think there are 20,000-40,000 people in the world installing VSATs

Endorsed by WBU-ISOG �  The International Satellite Operations Group

(ISOG), founded in 1985, is a committee of the World Broadcasting Unions (WBU).

�  ISOG provides a global forum for members of the WBU to exchange information, outline requirements and resolve common operational problems. WBU-ISOG's mission includes identifying solutions for all operational matters associated with satellite transmission of broadcast-related data, and to work with all international broadcast groups to achieve these solutions.

�  In 2014, WBU-ISOG formally endorsed the GVF training and certification program, including the ITU-R S.2049-compliant criteria for certifying operators of broadcast, mobile, and SNG uplink terminals.
