Una Nota de la Directora...

P.A.W.S. Corner with Ms. Adams

Happy October! Our Bulldogs never cease to amaze us and we have had a wonderful first quarter. With only two weeks left, our students have reached 12 days without any negative referrals and we are hopeful to earn a few more days. On Friday, October 12th, students will get to dump cold water on teachers and staff members that they have selected, including me, for our first quarter incentive. We are calling it “Ice, Ice, Bulldogs.” We will have music for the event and we will earn a spirit day if we earn one more day. We are so proud of our students for following P.A.W.S: they are promptly prepared, they act respectfully, work super hard, and are staying safe. Continue to encourage your child to do their personal best every day and ask, “What did you do to show P.A.W.S. today?’

¡Feliz octubre!

Happy October! This month is very busy. We will be holding parent teacher/conferences to

talk about your child’s report card and progress in class. As we will be on a tight

Schedule, we ask that you please make sure you are on time. We look forward to speaking

with you about your child’s progress. We will be having a school wide costume parade

which will take place on October 31st. We ask that you please have your child wear clothes

underneath their costume so if they choose to take off their costume or it is too distracting

that they have clothes ready to wear. Please check backpacks every night for important notes that come home.

Continue to review letters Mm, Ss, Rr, Tt, Nn, Pp, Aa, and Cc with your child and have them practice

This first quarter is flying by! Conferences are right around the corner. We need to meet with every child’s family. Please return any conference papers promptly so we can try to arrange a time that fits your schedule. Due to tight schedules, be sure to arrive on time for your scheduled conference. It is important to be there so you can receive your child’s report card and we can discuss your child’s progress first quarter. First grade will be going on a field trip to the Splash Pad on October 11 and students will need to wear their swim gear to school. Students are allowed to wear a costume to school on Wednesday, October 31. The costume needs to be school appropriate. Students will need to be comfortable staying in the costume all day, or will

need to wear clothes underneath, as they will not be sent to the bathroom to change. We will also be having a fall celebration in class on the 31st. Thank you for all you do to help your child be successful!

Hello 3rd Grade Families! 3rd grade is moving right along and 2nd Quarter is coming fast! Please help support your child with their reading and math goals. Students should be reading for at least 20 minutes each night in order to complete their reading logs. You can help support your student by reading with her, asking questions about what he read, and reviewing the answers they write down. Third graders have been working hard to learn their multiplication facts and we will

begin testing them on these facts weekly during 2nd Quarter. Mastering multiplication is a huge step towards your child’s success in math and we really appreciate your help! Flash cards can be made easily or are available for purchase at the dollar store; any and all extra practice is beneficial and will help your child reach this goal. We would like to remind you that parent-teacher conferences will be held the week of October 15th! Please plan on attending your child’s conference during that week; a communication form regarding conference time availability will be coming home soon. Finally, thank you for the continued donations of tissues, snacks, and pencils. These donations are always appreciated. Thank you, Families!

Sixth Grade News

Wow, we can't believe it's already October! Thank you to all of the parents that have been checking/signing agendas/Monday Folders to help keep your students on the right track. We appreciate your time and effort in getting your kiddos settled into sixth grade! If you have not seen your child's agenda/Monday Folder, please check in with him/her, as there is dedicated time in class to fill these out. October will be a busy month for us. Parent conference sign up forms will be going home soon, so keep an eye out for them

and send them back as soon as possible so that we may accommodate your schedule for conferences, especially if you are in need of translating services. Please note that fall celebrations for sixth grade will be held on Wednesday, October 31 in the afternoon. Please do not send sugary snacks to celebrate, but instead help your child develop healthy habits by sending fruits, juice, granola bars, etc. to help celebrate the season. Costumes may only be worn on Wednesday, 10/31 and must be school appropriate. Parent Engagement homework begins this month. Please ensure you are signing your child's calendar each week to verify that they have been reading for twenty minutes each night and completing the math parent engagement as well. Thank you for a wonderful start to the year and we look forward to the coming months teaching your children.

booooOOOOOOooooo! Did I scare you? No? Ah man... I'm so bad at October!

I'm sorry. I'll try to be more spooky when you come to our MEETING ON THE

3RD! At 2:30 here on campus in room 1, childcare and translation provided. We

*definitely* need you guys to come to the meetings. What do I need to do for

you guys to come to our meetings? Wear a silly suit? I will. Should I set up a big

wavy arm guy? I could do that too-- I might do it just for fun if I'm being

honest. Want me to do both? SOUNDS HILARIOUS. You know what- let me try this. I'll bribe you to

come to our meeting. I'll be bringing some pizzas to our meeting. Remember, WEDNESDAY 10/3 at 2:30

p.m. here on campus. You come, grab a slice of pizza. Bring your child, THEY get a slice of pizza (then

go watch a movie while we sort out the festival.)

Speaking of the festival, this year it will be held on Octobear 26! It starts at 5:00. There will be food,

fun, games, inflatables, music, fun and games. Probably some festivities too. Seems likely. It’s gonna be

great!

As always, I am available by phone or text: 520-668-6922. I’m excited to see you on WEDNESDAY,

10/3.
