BeamsFor the processing of profiles Voortman has a large range of machines in the delivery program. For

steel construction companies, steel stockholders as well as other steel processing companies we can

deliver the perfect processing machinery for your needs. The V600 drilling system has the drilling

unit horizontally mounted in a drilling cabin, which is moved along the drilling table. With the V613 and

V630 the drilling system is lined up at a fixed position and the beams are transported by feed conveyors

into the drilling system. These drilling systems can be combined with a Voortman sawing machine,

a Voortman beam coping system and a Voortman shot blaster. After the beam is provided with the

desired hole pattern it can be cambered quickly and accurately on the Voortman V2000 cambering

machine.

Drilling system V600The V600 drilling system with a horizontal servo-controlled drilling unit

that is suitable for structural steel fabricators with a limited floor space.

The operator loads the drilling table with several profiles behind each

other, after which the horizontal drilling unit provides one or more profiles

with the programmed hole pattern. By drilling holes through both flanges/

sides or by rotating a profile it is possible to drill the material on all sides.

Besides drilling the machine can also carry out thread tapping. A vertical

hydraulic clamp, which clamps the product to the table during drilling, is

fixed at the front of the drilling cabin. For tool changing, the drilling unit is

provided with an automatic toolchanger. After replacing a drill the length

of the new tool is automatically measured and before starting the drilling

process the web and flange height will be measured automatically. The

holes in the flanges can be positioned with regard to the centre of the

measured flange height or the actual web height.

Drilling systems V613 and V630The V630M and V630T are fitted with one vertical and two horizontal servo-controlled drilling units.

Therefore profiles can be drilled simultaneously in both flanges and in the web. With the rotating drilling

unit of the V613M and V613T profiles can be drilled vertically as well as horizontally. The drilling systems

can operate independently for long periods due to the automatic tool changers.

For the V630M and the V613M drilling systems, the positioning of a profile is carried out, by a machine

integrated feeder roll positioning system. The advantages of feeder rolls are high positioning speed,

processing of unlimited starting lengths, easily integrated into an existing production line and feeder

rolls require a minimum of floor space. For material positioning the V630T and the V613T are both

fitted with a feeder truck with a hydraulic gripper. The Voortman gripper can clamp various types of

profiles without manual setting. By adding an automatic unloading system for short products and off

cuts a combined drilling & sawing system can produce automatically for longer periods.

Drilling systems V613 and V630Combine with other systems for more production capacity

All drilling systems can be combined with a horizontal band sawing machine from the VB-range and

a hydraulic numbering machine. For an increased production capacity the sawing system and drilling

system can be split into separate connected lines. After sawing, the profiles will be transported with

cross transports into the drilling system automatically. For further automation of the pre-fabrication

process a Voortman shot blaster can be added to the production line. Therefore one operator can

centrally control all these machines for drilling, sawing and shot blasting.

Software

The software program “VACAM-Machine Edition” is installed on the control system. The control system

can be integrated in the company’s network, so that DSTV- and DSTV+-data can be directly downloaded,

from system files within the company database, to the drilling system.

Band saws VB-rangeVoortman has developed six models of band sawing machines. Five sawing machines are developed for

mitre cutting. The sixth is designed for straight cutting of profiles. The sawing machines are equipped

with a control system for the selection of the mitre angle and the automatic sawing cycle. The band

speed is frequency controlled and the feed rate is automatically controlled to suit the profile type and

size. Each sawing machine can also be combined with a drilling system for sawing and drilling in one

continuous process.

According to the steel fabricators needs Voortman can offer various positioning systems for the

transportation and measuring of the material. For example a length stop measuring system, a feeder

truck or feeder rolls positioning system. Each positioning system has its own specific characteristics.

A length stop measuring system is ideal for sawing a batch of profiles, a feeder truck enables the

system to operate independently for a considerable time and a system with feeder rolls is very fast and

flexible.

Short product conveyor

This conveyor enables the system to run for a considerable time without operator. Short products and

off cuts are automatically removed by the system. As a result there is no need for the operator to take

the short products manually from the saw.

Software

The control system can be integrated into the company’s network so that DSTV and DSTV+-data can

be directly downloaded to drive the sawing system, from system files within the company. The software

is also capable of the automatic control of the handling systems. Voortman handling systems are fitted

with several detectors enabling the automatic transport of beams from the infeed system through the

saw onto the outfeed cross transport.

Voortman beam coping systemV806M

Beam coping system V806MThe V806M is a beam coping system with an universal six axis industrial

robot especially designed for cutting I-beams, H-beams, channels,

angles, rectangular tubes and flat-bars. The system is capable of

cutting in both flanges (from left and right side) and the web (from

above) of beams and can also carry out web and flange bevels.

For the automatic positioning of the profiles feeder rolls are fitted. The

V806M is equipped with a coping robot with an oxygen cutting unit. While

each beam deviates from his ideal dimensions the robot first performs

an automatic measurement cycle to measure the real beam dimensions.

The V806M coping system can be used as a single machine or can also

be integrated in a split system for sawing, drilling and coping.

Cambering machine V2000The V2000 is a horizontal cambering machine developed for cambering

steel profiles. The reaction beam of the cambering machine is provided

with two adjustable reaction points. Two motor-driven transport rolls carry

the profiles in the machine. The cambering machine is available in three

displayed in the table below.

Flat steelFor the production of connection plates, braces and diagonal trusses Voortman has developed three

types of punching & shearing systems. Each of these machines is fitted with as standard an automatic

material infeed system, a hydraulic punching machine, a numbering unit and a mitre cutting flat steel

shear. This basic configuration can be extended with several modules such as an infeed cross transport,

an angle steel shear, a horizontal punching machine, a drilling unit, an automatic loading system and a

product sorting system.

The computer control of the V550-series is suitable to import DSTV-data. After this the program

carries out bar nesting. The computer control of the V550-series can be connected directly with the

company’s computer network.

Loading system and product sorting system

A loading crane, with independently operated electro magnets, is used to place flat steel from stock

onto the drag-chain transverse transport. The crane also has the possibility to return off cuts back to

stock. Using the loading system, the punching and shearing system can operate independently for a

considerable time. A product sorting system can be used to divide products beforehand into different

selected material bins.

Stock systems

The Voortman stock systems are developed for storing long materials in storage bins. Directly at the

outfeed station of the stock system, a processing machine can be placed typically a punch/shear line or

a sawing system. So when material is required a bin can be automatically taken from the stock system

and will be available at the right position adjacent to the infeed of the processing machine.

Punching and shearingFor the infeed of different types of steel bars the V550 systems are

provided with a roller conveyer with drag-chain cross transverse transport

(option) and a bar positioning system. The cross transport can be used

as a buffer zone for trade lengths. This material is traversed onto the

roller conveyor one at a time. The positioning system accurately positions

the material into the system by using a pneumatic material gripper and

a detector.

The punching tools have a long life as a result of the design of the very

stiff O-frame, which is used as the basis of the vertical hydraulic punching

machine. The hydraulic clamping unit mounted on the punch, clamps the

top of the material to avoid bending.

To mark every single product each punching & shearing system is

provided with a hydraulic numbering unit, which is fitted with either one

or four discs.

For cutting the products to length the V550 is fitted with a flat steel shear and an angle steel shear

(option). The shears are provided with a hydraulic clamping unit, which results in a good quality cut. For

cutting mitre angles the flat steel shear is mounted on a rotating frame. To punch holes in both flanges

a hydraulic horizontal punching machine can also be added to the system.

Loading crane

With the automatic loading system the V550

can be feed automatically for a considerable

time. This loading system is suitable for

automatic loading of the infeed cross transport

with flat steel. Flat steel will be placed side by side

in a flat steel stock on the floor or in the stock

system. Above this stock runs a crane provided

with several electrically operated magnets. This

crane is used to place the flat steel onto the

drag-chain transverse transport.

Product sorting system

To automate the production of connection plates

a product sorting system can be positioned at

the outfeed side of the V550. After cutting the

plates are transported in the length direction on

a belt conveyor and then pushed to the right or

left side by pneumatic pushers into a selected

product bin. The operator can select the required

bin based on phase, project or product. Or simply

use the system as high outfeed capacity during

an automatic run.

Stock system V3000

The V3000 is a stock system that is provided

with several material bins, each bin has a

capacity of 3.000 kg. By using the maximum

available building height, it is possible to store

large quantity of material on a small floor

space. The bins are placed automatically on

outfeed stations, so that the material can

be taken out at ergonomic working height.

Angle steelThe V505 has two variations available and is normally used for the manufacture of diagonal trusses,

braces and clip angles.

The machine is fitted with a feeder roll positioning system. The input of products can be carried out

manually or imported (DSTV-files) on the computer control system of the machine and nested into

bars. During this bar nesting, the program carries out a length optimization. It is also possible to read

in optimized nested bars. The computer control of the V505 can be connected with the company’s

network.

The V505-1 is the basic execution of the V505-series. For automatically positioning of angle profiles the

machine is equipped with feeder rolls. The features of this measuring system include a high positioning

speed and an unlimited processed length. The machine is fitted with a pair of punching units, one for

each leg of the angle, each with a single punch. The punching units are provided with a quick-change

adapter, so the punch tools can be changed quickly.

V505-3

Due to both punching units of the V505-3 being fitted with a triple punch station this angle line is a very

flexible system. For the positioning of angle steel the V505-3 is, just like the V505-1, executed with a

measuring system with feeder rolls. The features of this measuring system include a high positioning

speed and an unlimited processed length.

PlatesFor the fabrication of steel plates Voortman offers three types of machines. The V70 for stamping

marks or codes in steel plates and fittings and the V200 and V250 to provide heavy steel plates

automatically with drilled or punched holes, thread tapping and marking.

V250

The V250 plate punching system is a CNC-controlled processing machine consisting of a hydraulic

triple punching machine and a X-Y table with hydraulic material clamping. A vertical servo-controlled

drilling unit, an automatic tool changer, a numbering unit and a deburring unit can be added to the

machine as an additional extra. With the drilling unit, steel plates can be provided with holes, which

cannot be punched, due to the material thickness restrictions. The computer control is suitable for the

import of DSTV-data.

V200

The V200 plate drilling system consists of a vertical servo-controlled drilling unit and a X-Y table. With

the V200, steel plates, pre-cut to a certain dimension, are automatically provided with holes, thread

taps and countre sinking. The X-Y table has a double hydraulic material clamping system. Automatic

tool changer, a numbering unit and a deburring unit can be added to the machine as an additional extra.

With the deburring unit the drilled holes will be deburred automatically from the bottom. The computer

control is suitable for the import of DSTV-data.

Shot blasters VSB1500 and VSB2500The VSB1500 and VSB2500 are designed for the automatic surface preparation of beams, flat bars,

angles and plates.

The machines are suitable to work as a “stand alone” shot blasting machine with roller conveyors and

liftable cross transports on the infeed and outfeed side. The 15kW heavy duty shot blast turbines

guarantee a high throughput speed which means that the Voortman VSB blasters are perfectly suited

for integrating into a Voortman automated beam production line. One operator can control centrally this

pre-fabrication production line. The control is user friendly due the pre-programmed blasting programs,

automatic starting cycle and many automatic functions.

The material detection device on the infeed side of the machine ensures that the abrasive dosage

valves are opened and closed at the right moment, which prevents unnecessary wear to the machine.

The blasting cabinet is composed of 8 mm thick manganese steel with 10 mm thick exchangeable wear

strips of manganese steel. The shot blasting turbines are place perpendicular to the material to be

blasted and are fitted with a mechanical pre-acceleration of the abrasive.

The shot blasters are provided with a powered brush and a blow-off unit. The brush is automatically

adjusted to the height of the material being shot blasted and removes the abrasive immediately after

blasting.

The abrasive will be collected at the bottom of the blasting cabinet. The abrasive is returned to the

abrasive container via a screw conveyor and a bucket elevator. A central automatic extraction unit with

six ultra web filter cartridges to remove the dust from the extracted air are situated on top of the shot

blasting machine.
