CARDV Volunteers provide the much needed support to keep our services free and confidential. Our Volunteers provide administrative support, are trained to answer the hotline, serve on the Board of Directors, raise funds and awareness in our communities, and much more. Domestic violence and sexual assault will only end when it is no longer acceptable to each of us. sexual and domestic violence and • To provide education and leadership within the

Advocacy:Advocacy:Advocacy:Advocacy: Advocacy volunteers assist in every aspect of CARDV’s work with clients. The support of advocacy volunteers allows CARDV to maintain the highest level of service to survivors of domestic and sexual violence. Here are a few examples of how volunteers can help CARDV clients:

• Legal Advocacy: Support when working with law enforcement, accompaniment to court hearings, assistance with protection orders. • Hospital Advocacy: 24-hour emergency response and in-person advocacy at area hospitals for survivors of domestic violence or sexual assault.

• Shelter Mentorship: Shelter mentors

assist CARDV residents in a variety of ways including: in-person meetings, accompaniment to appointments, help navigating public transportation, shelter chores, or respite childcare.

• Hotline Advocacy: Answering the 24-hr hotline at

home, in the shelter or the CARDV office. • Support Group Advocacy: Co-facilitating a weekly support group for survivors of domestic violence or sexual assault.

Internship:Internship:Internship:Internship: CARDV offers personalized internship opportunities throughout the academic year. Two to three interns are accepted each term and a two-term commitment is required. Internships are designed to meet the needs of both the student and the agency. Potential internship positions include: community education, shelter-based advocacy, legal advocacy, fundraising and event coordination, research projects or outreach to the community.

Wish list drives are a great way for groups or families to volunteer together.

Board Membership:Board Membership:Board Membership:Board Membership: The Board of Directors shall manage the fiscal affairs of CARDV; supervise the Executive Director; and assist with the coordination of public relations, program evaluation, and fundraising efforts. The board consists of 7 to 16 board members. CARDV encourages interested prospects to first serve on a board or fundraising committee.

• Willingness to support the expectations of a Board Member.

Our largest fundraising event of the year, the 5th Annual Safe Families Breakfast free sit down breakfast fundraiser. Guests are personally invited to the event as guests of a Table Captain. The hour long program includes an update on the status of CARDV, a keynote speaker, who is a survivor of domestic violence, and an opportunity to support CARDV financially.

The Spaghetti Dinner originally started as a Thank You event to give back to the community that has so generously supported CARDV. Now it has evolved into an awareness raising event where supporters of CARDV bring their friends for a fun-filled evening introduction to CARDV.

What started as a single outreach event—to thank our Linn County donors and seek their input —has grown to include participation and representation in local Linn County fairs, events, festivals and parades. The goal of the Linn County Outreach Events is two-fold: 1) to in-crease awareness of CARDV services and resources in Linn County and 2) to cultivate a broader donor base for sustainable funding.

CARDV's annual Mother's Day Run/Walk for Safe Families, now in its eleventh year, is one of our major fundraising events, as well as a wonderful community outreach event raising awareness of CARDV services. Over 500 partici-pants enter in the run/walk each year.
