We thank you Lord for this Rotary meeting among different
clubs. We invoke your blessings on this meeting and all who
grace it with their presence. Be with us this day and always by
strengthening our belief to take action. A belief shared by all
Rotarians to get involved in their communities and use their
skills to help others. This prayer we make in Jesus name,
Amen.
OBJECT OF ROTARY
The Object of Rotary is to encourage and foster the ideal of service as a basis of
worthy enterprise and, in particular, to encourage and foster:
FIRST: The development of acquaintance as an opportunity for
service;
SECOND: High ethical standards in business and professions;
the recognition of the worthiness of all useful occupations; and the
dignifying of each Rotarian’s occupation as an opportunity to serve
society;
THIRD: The application of the ideal of service in each Rotarian’s
personal, business, and community life;
FOURTH: The advancement of international understanding,
goodwill, and peace through a world fellowship of business and

President’s Message
Dear Centronians,
When I accepted the presidency, one of my more pressing concerns is membership. Re-
tention is not so much an issue as we rarely lose member but re-cruitment is. August is membership month and we have to face our membership issues early in our term.
Based on history, our club would be able to add a few members, one or up to three members in a year, but it would never be more than 20% increase, which is this year's target.
But truly, our club is blessed with kind hearted people who makes new members feel important and so we grew this year.
Early July, we had two new members and early August, we in-ducted three more. One more and it is target achieved!!
Thank you to Centronians who sponsored new members especially to our Membership Director IPP Michelle Baldemor who continues to charm new members.
Centronians have had the chance to bond with the new members and they immediately gelled. Truly amazed how things are with the club's membership and am hoping that recruitment and reten-tion continues to have positive outcomes.
Yours in Rotary,
Cecile Gabatan

Technically, fellowship means a “friendly association, especially with
people who share one's interests”. Though this definition applies in
rotary, fellowship meetings with rotary is a friendly association
and a lot more. It is highly anticipated as it usually a camaraderie
meet, a teambuilding as you would term it in the corporate
world.
Probably, one of the greatest wish of a rotary president is to have a
club that works well together. Camaraderie doesn’t mean that all
members are best friends and socialize on weekends or every free
time they get . Instead, the idea is to build a level of trust, respect,
and affection that enables easy and productive relationships.
The camaraderie that a rotary president would applaud is not the
idealistic type that everyone likes everyone. Instead, this camarade-
rie wish is the willingness to communicate effectively, question au-
thority, effectively solve problems, negotiate conflict, assist one
another, and work together effectively and efficiently.
Truly, a club cannot produce good results without a sense of cama-
raderie. But however way we put it, this is a difficult task not just
for the president but to all the club members. Hopefully, the fel-
lowship meetings will do wonders to make this difficult task a pos-
sibility.

ROTARY INTERNATIONAL
News & Updates
That Rotary members log a lot of volunteer hours should come as no surprise to anyone famil-iar with the organization. But a new report just re-leased by Johns Hopkins University provides a pow-erful look at the impact of all those volunteer hours.
The special report prepared for Rotary International by the Johns Hopkins Center for Civil Society Studies found that Rotary members had volunteered a total of 5.8 million hours within a four-week survey period. Extrapolating those results over an entire year, the report gave a conservative estimate of nearly 47 mil-lion hours of volunteer ef-fort generated by Rotary members in a typical year.
The report then analyzed the economic impact of all those hours and estimated the value conservatively at $850 million a year, if communities had to pay for the services that Rotary vol-unteers provide.
Rotary, with the help of Johns Hopkins University, is the first global service organization to conduct an empirical analysis of its volun-teer’s impact using an internationally sanctioned definition of volun-teer work. The authors of the report noted in their conclusion that at each stop, the analysis had chosen the most conservative esti-mates.
Value of Rotary volunteering
Cosmos Segbefia, a member of the Rota-ry Club of Sekondi-Takoradi, and Derrick Ababio Kwarteng, of Global Communi-ties, assist with the construction of a borehole in the Western Region of Gha-na in 2018. A report by Johns Hopkins University prepared for Rotary Interna-tional estimated that Rotary members provide about 47 million hours of volun-teer effort a year at an estimated value of $850 million.

DIVERSIFYING YOUR CLUB
Diversity refers to
inclusion of people from many groups. It is a source of innovation, as well as one of Rotary’s core values. Having members with dif-ferent backgrounds and viewpoints gives your club a broader understanding of the community, its problems, and possible solutions. Strive to have a group of members who offer the club diverse skills, talents, and experiences. If your club in-cludes different ethnicities, ages, and cultures, as well as a good gender balance, it will have greater capacity to serve your community and communities around the world. Equally important is creating a culture of inclusion, where these dif-ferences are respected, supported, and valued.
OUTCOME
Conduct this diversity assessment and act on its results to:
Raise your members’ awareness of the diversity in your com-munity • Build member support for increasing diversity • Di-versify your club to better represent the working professionals in your community
GETTING ORGANIZED
Dedicate time in a series of club meetings to conducting each step of your member diversity assessment. Choose a facilita-tor (the membership committee chair, a committee member, or the club president) who is comfortable talking about diver-sity and passionate about the need for greater diversity in your club. Or, consider inviting a diversity and inclusion leader to talk to your club. This activity should involve all club mem-bers so that they all have a stake in the process. Greater in-clusion will increase awareness and support for future action.

Reflections
“Our success or failure will not depend upon the
machinery of Rotary or its physical growth, but
upon the extent to which Rotary’s ideals or
objectives are translated into positive, tangible
results in personal, business, community, and
