AND THE SEVEN DWARFS AT
RICHMOND THEATRE

This visual story aims prepare you if you are curious or maybe a little bit anxious
about your visit to the Theatre.
This visual story contains lots of images and information to prepare you for your
visit including:

Descriptions and pictures of the main characters in the show.

This is Richmond Theatre, where Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs takes
place. It is on The Green in Richmond.
This is the Box Office. It is inside the front door on the right. If you need to col-
lect your tickets, you need to collect them from here. You may have to wait in a
queue and it can be quite busy and noisy sometimes
When you enter the theatre, the staff at the doors will ask to see your ticket,
they will tell you where to go to find your seat. Once you reach the auditorium
an usher will show you to your seat once you present them with your ticket. An
usher is someone who works for the theatre. They will be wearing a white shirt
with a black waistcoat and have red badge with their name on.
When you arrive, there will be people standing near the doors dressed in a
white shirt with black trousers. These are security guards. They may need to
have a look in your bag to make sure you are not bringing any alcohol or any-
thing dangerous’. Don’t be frightened of them, they are there to keep you safe!

This is the till where you can buy a drink or some snacks. It might be busy and
crowded.

There are toilets at the theatre on all levels. If you need to use the toilet that’s
fine, just ask an usher to help you.

You will need to use your ticket to find your seat. Your ticket will tell you what
level you are sitting on, the letter of the row that you are sitting in, and your
seat number.

The inside of the theatre where the seats are is called the auditorium. It is very
big and there are lots of seats.

When it is time for the show to start the theatre will get darker and everyone
will be quiet. You will need to be as quiet as you can during the show so that
you can hear everything.
The person on stage may ask you to clap, sing and dance. You are allowed to join in, but you don’t have to if you don’t want to. At the end of songs, the audience will probably clap. You can join in if you want to, but you don’t have to.

There may be a break in the performance which will last 20 minutes. You could use the toilet in this time, or buy a drink or some snacks. There might be queues for the toilets and the kiosk and bars.
There will also be members of staff walking around with ice creams and programmes for sale. There may be a queue.

After the interval, everyone will come back and sit down in their seats again. It
will get darker and quieter again just like at the beginning of the show. The
actors will come back on the stage and finish telling the story.
At the end of the show, all of the actors will come out on stage and bow. This is
called a curtain call. Many people will clap a lot so the actors know how much
they liked the show. They may also stand up to show they liked the show. You
can clap and stand up too, but you don’t have to if you don’t want to.
After this, the lights will come back up and you will leave the theatre. You
might not leave the same way that you came into the theatre.

The Characters
This is Nurse Nancy. They are Snow
White’s Nurse. The pantomime
dame is traditionally a man dressed
as a woman. They are a comedy
character. You are allowed to laugh
if you want to.

This is Snow White and Prince Harry.
They are the main characters of the
pantomime.

This is the Evil Queen. She is the villain
of the pantomime. The audience might
‘boo’ or ‘hiss’ when she is onstage. You
can join in if you want to, but you don’t
have to.
There is a magic mirror in the pantomime, the Wicked Queen asks it to
tell her who is the fairest in the land. It looks like this and will talk in a
loud voice through the speakers.
