The show lasts for 2 hours & 20 minutes including a 20 minute break, which is called the interval.

Aladdin is at Milton Keynes theatre

You may have to wait in a queue when you get to the theatre and it can

be quite busy and noisy.

There are toilets at the theatre, if you need to use the toilet that’s fine, and there are signs to show you where the toilets are.

When the auditorium is ready, there will be an announcement, informing everyone

that the doors are now open, and inviting people to take their seats. I may enter the

auditorium at this point through one of the numbered doors with the rest of the

group.

The inside of the theatre, where the seats are is called the auditorium. It is very big

and there are lots of seats. You will need to show your ticket to an usher. An usher is someone who works for the theatre and they will be wearing a red badge and a

yellow sash. They will look at your ticket and tell you where your seat is. The number

on your ticket tells you where you have to sit, it is not a choice.

When you get to your seat you can sit down and relax. There will be lots of other people sitting near you and it might be quite noisy.

When the show is about to start the lights will dim and everyone will be quiet.

When the show starts, you will see Abanazar come on to the stage with a big book reading an ancient poem.

Seeing a show is like watching television, or a film, but the people in a show are on a

stage and they are called actors. When the actors sing or dance, some people will clap. Clapping is nice because it tells the actors you liked their song. If you want to

clap you can. You don’t have to clap if you don’t want to.

These are pictures of some of the actors you will see on the stage during Aladdin.

This is Wishee-Washee, Aladdin's older brother. When he comes onto the stage he'll say " nǐ hǎo (knee – How) everybody” If you want to, you can shout back ““nǐ hǎo (knee-How) Wishee!".

This is Aladdin, he is the hero of the story. When he comes on stage he will say “hello” to the audience, you can shout “hello” to him if you'd like.

This is Widow Twankey, Aladdin's Mum. When she comes onto the stage she'll say “hello” to the audience, you can shout “hello” back if you'd like.

This is the

Genie of the

Lamp…

This is the

Genie of the

Ring…

This is Abanazar, the baddie. When he comes onto the stage some of audience will shout “boo” or will hiss, you can join in if you would like to.

The actors will tell a story by talking, singing and dancing. Sometimes it might be very loud. If the sounds are too loud you can put your hands over your ears, or wear your headphones/earphones (if you have brought some with you). If I cannot keep quiet, or find the performance too loud, I may ask an usher with the yellow sash or an adult to take me to the quiet room which looks like this.

This is Princess Jasmine, Aladdin is in

love with her

This is The Emperor, Princess

Jasmine's

Dad.

This is PC Pong, the

Policeman.

About halfway through the show, there will be a break called the interval. The actors will go off stage and the lights will come back on. People will also start moving

around. During this period, I may go to the toilet. Remember these are the signs for the toilets

At the end of the interval, I will hear an announcement, informing me that the

performance is about to restart. When I hear this announcement, I must return to

my seat and the lights will dim again.

At the end of the performance, the audience will clap. This tells the actors that we

liked the show. I may join in with the clapping if I want to.

When the actors have left the stage, the lights will come back on and everyone will

start moving around. I may either leave the building, or wait in the foyer until the

crowds have quietened down.
