C. Scope and Limitation
The study will be limited on the lexicalequivalent that occurs in Indonesian
translation result , not discussing
about another equivalents such as :grammar equivalents and so forth.
The number of chapters in Midnight
Sunare 12 chapters, and the writerwill only analyze 6 chapters of it

METHOD OF RESEARCH
A. Research DesignThis study will employ qualitative descriptivemethod .
B. Source of DataThe source of the data is an English novel
Midnight Sun(2008) by Stephanie Meyerand its Indonesian translation with the sametitle by Alan Koesumah . The original novel
consists of 12 chapters and 264 pages whileits translation in target text consists of 12chapters and 270 pages, and the data thatwill be analyzed is 6 chapters in English
version with 139 pages and 6 chapters inIndonesian version with 138 a es.

D. Technique of Collecting Data
In collecting the data, written method isused. The data are sentences that
contain of lexical items which are
translated idiomatically or unilaterallyin target language.

E. Technique of Analyzing Data
1. The writer will study the dialogue and find the
content of the story by reading the novelcarefully.
2. After knowing the meaning intended in thedialogue, the writer will compare the lexical
items of written dialogue then decided whether
those lexical items are translated literally or
idiomatically.
3. The writer will verify those lexical items in the
bilingual dictionary compiled by John M. Echolsand Hassan Shadil , then find an ossible

equivalents of its translated dialogue. The
writer will look up Indonesian dictionary toknow the possible meaning that can be arisen
from the lexical items used in the translated
