The teacher presents the topic:
THE BANK CHEQUE/CHECK
A bank cheque is a payment instrument that orders a bank to pay a specific amount of money from a person's account to the
person in whose name the cheque has been issued.
The person writing the cheque, the drawer, has a transaction banking account (also called current account) where his/her
money is held. The drawer writes the various details including the monetary amount, date, and a payee on the cheque, and
signs it, ordering his/her bank, known as the drawee, to pay that person or company the amount of money stated.
Both the drawer and payee may be natural persons or legal entities.
11
The four main items on a cheque are
1. Drawer, the person or entity who writes the cheque
2. Payee, the recipient of the money: the person or company you are sending the check
3. Drawee, the bank or other financial institution where the cheque can be presented for payment
4. Amount, the currency amount
