General Enhancements

Reference Guides Updated to include Verisurf 2019 Enhancements and new functionality. Please refer to the pertinent Reference Guide for details on the enhancements and functions found in this document.

Moldplus CAD Translator Updated MoldPlus CAD Translator to version 7.0.4; imported MBD will now have leaders and notes, can now import 3D format files from; CATIA V6, CATIA V5 Read, CATIA V4 Read/Write, NX Read, JT Read. This version supports the latest formats:

• CATIA V5 R29 (V5-6 R2019)

• CATIA V6 R2018X

• Siemens NX 1847, NX 1851

• Creo/ProE V5.0

• JT V10.3 files and

• STEP AP242 (E1), AP214 (E3) and AP203 (E1, E2) Improved import speed - now imports CAD data in wireframe mode and only shades at the very end of the import. This improves import speed on large file types.

Analysis

Analysis Settings Added Line Components control to Analysis/Build Settings to control the Line display based on DX (Delta X), DY (Delta Y), DZ (Delta Z) and/or 3D of the active WCS. This control is also available in the Settings dialog of an Analysis object. Other Analysis Changes Copy to Clipboard now supports the active WCS.

Measure

Details Pane and Feature Balloons These two new features make it possible to view real-time deviations of a Feature Measurement either; using the CAD Model as the Nominal, or if no CAD model is available, entering the Nominal information into the Details pane.

Details Pane

• The Details Pane is activated using the Details Pane tool button in Measure Manager and is displayed at the bottom of the Graphics window.

o The Details Pane controls the content of the Feature properties, Nominals and Balloons. o Using Verisurf Preferences – Display Settings – Dialogs – Auto Hide Details Pane allows

you to hide the Details Pane when a Feature is not selected in the Verisurf Data Tree. o When a feature uses more than 80% of the tolerance the Result Field is colored yellow.

Feature Balloons

• The Feature Balloon display is controlled using the Details Pane (above) providing the User with real time information of the completed feature measurement including; Measured, Nominal, Tolerance, Deviation, Pass/Fail color coded results and more.

o The visibility of the Balloons is controlled by selecting the Balloons tab on the right side of the Details Pane (above).

o Balloon formatting is controlled in Verisurf Preferences – Display Settings – Balloons. o When a CAD model is not present, Nominal values may be entered in the Details Pane to

display Feature Results.

Color Scan Support Verisurf now supports color scans from applicable hardware. This is beneficial for referencing objects in the real world.

• Meshes inherit color from the pointcloud data.

• Easy to see details (writing, notes, etc.).

• VRML file supports Colors for Reverse applications.

Measuring Slots Obround (default), Rectangle and Square type slots are now supported in Slot Measure Settings.

• Obround is the default standard Slot.

• Rectangle – length is greater than the width.

• Square – all sides are equal.

• Obround Slots can now be measured/calculated by measuring two arcs.

• Added Maximum Inscribed and Minimum Circumscribed to Methods for fitting.

Measuring Lines Save Center Point text has been updated to Save Center Point/Offset Point, when selected in conjunction with Vector Offset the Vector Offset Point is saved to the Data Tree and the length of the Line is stored as measured. Other Measure Changes

• Added ‘L’ Hotkey to toggle the display of the Laser Beam.

• Added ‘B’ Hotkey to toggle the display of the Ball.

• Added ‘G’ Hotkey toggle the Color Bar when measuring.

• Save Alignment to File from Alignment speed menu now supports 15 decimal places.

Automate

Data Feature Extraction This new feature allows the operator the ability to quickly and easily run Inspection Plans from pre-measured Pointclouds and/or Meshes. This powerful new function is very useful when working with Data from Laser Scanners or pointclouds measured by Probing Devices.

• Extract using CAD Nominals.

• Extract using previously measured Features (probed using Teach Mode), ideal for production scanning work when a CAD Model does not exist.

• Automatic noise filtering provides precise feature fitting.

• Sigma Filtering – filtering based on Standard Deviation.

• Edge Filter – filters based on a defined boundary around the selected CAD surface edges.

• CAD or Feature Radial and height zone filtering.

• Ability to align and extract each feature individually or as a group.

• Execute the Feature Extraction using Run Offline in Auto Inspect.

Convert to Features In the Plan; Analysis objects like; Inspect/Build, Surface Points added using the Verisurf Surface Point Tools (Grid, Dynamic, Curve to Surface), objects can now be converted to Features. Accessing the speed menu of the Analysis object and selecting Convert To – Feature Type fits a new feature using the Analysis points as the Feature Path points.

Feature Select added for Screenshots In the Plan; the operator may now select the Features to be shown in a Screenshot prior to clicking on the Screenshot toolbutton. After selecting the Screenshot toolbutton the operator finalizes the Screenshot view and presses Enter to store the result in the Plan. Other Automate Changes

• When adding a new probe, the operator is now prompted for a probe name.

• Export Probe now exports a DME file for UCC server compatibility.

• Added Clear button to Edit Projection Association dialog that is used for Analysis objects (shown right), clears previous associations to CAD Entities.

• Added Ellipse to Add from CAD speed menu.

• Add from CAD – Feature now recognizes all closed spline features; Obround, Rectangular, Square Slots and Ellipses:

Reverse

PowerMesh PowerMesh is the most exciting Reverse feature for the 2019 release. Power Mesh is a “one-click” tool that can be used to; create, clean up, refine, smooth and close a mesh from Pointclouds (points must have vectors), or to clean up, refine, smooth and close an existing mesh(s) The images shown below demonstrate the PowerMesh functions; filling holes, smoothing and refining this STL Mesh. Shown on the left is the Mesh with the open edges highlighted to illustrate the current roughness. Shown on the right are the results of PowerMesh, a new Mesh object will be stored in the Data tree with the PowerMesh label.

Other PowerMesh Details

• Power Mesh can be found in the pointcloud or mesh speed menu under Mesh Utilities.

• Rapid, Single click mesh cleanup tool

• Supports color scans – retains the colors from color scanned data.

Extend Mesh Improvements • Moved the Extend function to the Add speed menu,

removed it from the Tools speed menu. o Added Include Holes to apply Extend settings to

Holes when applicable. o Added the Undo button to undo the previous

Extend Mesh command.

Export Edge Splines Added Export – To Edge Splines to the Mesh speed menu, exports closed edge splines of the selected Mesh to the active CAD Level.

• For clean open edges, best used after cropping the ends of a port shaped mesh.

2D Slice Improved Slice for Meshes – added 2D option for current screen view orientation (X, Y, Z or Rotated) using the 2D/3D toggle option in the Status Bar allows the user to change the orientation of the Slicing plane for greater control in the Mesh slicing process.

Crop The Crop tool for pointclouds and meshes has been improved.

• Dialog box has been updated to improve user intuitiveness.

• Rotation values have been added for each axis to allow for rotating the Crop box to match the currently selected pointcloud or mesh.

• Now supports the active WCS.

Report Manager

MBD Profile Reporting When inspecting surfaces that have MBD attached an Index Number is added to the Analysis Object point name for reporting and display purposes (Analysis Info dialog) this provides more detail for the operator.

Feature Select added for Screenshots In the Report Manager; the operator may now select the Features to be shown in a Screenshot prior to clicking on the Screenshot toolbutton. After selecting the Screenshot toolbutton the operator finalizes the Screenshot view and presses Enter to store the result in the Report.

Report Builder – Added Duplicate Custom Objects Custom Objects made in the Report Builder can now be duplicated. This allows the user create a Duplicate of a Custom Object for use later in the Report. After duplicating the Custom Object, the user simply drags and drops the Custom Objects wherever else it is needed in the Report. Once inserted into the Report the user must click on the Duplicate button to add it to the Inactive Objects list. Below is an example using a Custom Object Table to add a Signature Field at the end of the Inspection Report:

Other Report Manager Changes

• Report Settings – Added option to place Analysis Screenshots Above (object) Details in PDF Settings and HTML Settings.

• Added data field in the Details Pane to Report the Half Angle from a Cone Feature.

• Added to Total Runout the TIR (Total Indicated Runout) to Constructed Objects.

• Total Runout can now use a Single object by using the object Nominal as the Datum. If a Nominal value is not available changing the I, J, K values on the axis being evaluated will provide Total Runout results. Use the Table on the right for setting I, J, K on a measured feature.

• Added TP (Total Profile/Total Position) and Range to Analysis Summary for PDF, HTML and Excel

Reports.

• Updated Tree icon for Intersect when a Line or Circle type is used to construct an intersection.

Auto Inspect

• Added Extract from points/clouds/etc. to Auto Inspect Run Offline speed menu for Feature Extraction applications. Selecting the Blue Arrow (Run Offline) also will executed the Feature Extraction plan.

• Added Extract Progress Bar for Feature Extraction plans.

Verisurf API / SDK

• Now sends I++ Commands via API

• Added Object Delete to the API o You can now delete Objects from the Verisurf database using <Object_delete id="" /> o Deleting Alignments suppresses Warning dialogs and transformation apply prompts.

• API Callback limit changed from 30 seconds to infinite.

• Several other API Command enhancements have been made; see https://github.com/verisurf/verisurf-api/tree/master/documentation for further details.
