1.1 Ground for the Programme
Our antecedent “good will mission “visits to the North on 5th March 2011
and to the East from 08th to 10th June 2011, we could able to build close
relationship in between the North and East with the South .As well as
these visits provided opportunity to us for identify their native issues and
we needed to prepare a proper work plans for address those issue for
attain their needs with a combinations of the North, East and the South.
This background proved again and again that though we living in a
democratically structure as a women they are still suffering from
particular problems and they are eager to solve it. This is an effort to pool
the feelings, ideas and expectations and suggestions of the women in the

North, East and in the South on real and sustainable peace building
among different communities and to come up with a sustainable program
which is actively to get support from bottom as people’s participation, to
establish it positively.
1.2 Intension of the programme
1. To look at the present favourable situation to identifying own issues that
they have been suffering, from a women’s perspective
2. To arrange the groups to establish sustainable peace among all the
different communities with re-strengthening past relationship
3. To get assistance from the government authorities/ institutions to work-
out the program
4. To promote their present developments with sharing their own
experiences identify the native options to implement new programme by
women in the North, East & the South.
1.3 ApproachFor attain above intensions As SAVISTHRI we planned the programme of
drafting a work plans for the North, East and for the South in Vavunia.
Vavunia was the middle centre that everyone represented from the South,
East and the North can be reach soon to this programme. In continuation
of our peace building efforts, the journey to Vavunia started on 26th July
around 4.30 p.m. from Savisthri Office, Colombo by Van. District
representatives, Committee members from Anuradhapura, Matale,
Nuwara Eliya, National Secretary, Programme Manager as well as network
facilitator representing SAVISTHRI and our network members had
participated in this journey. We reached to the RDF training centre around at
2.00a.m. Committee members from Monaragala Had visited to the training
centre by bus around 1.30p.m.on 26th July 2011.Other committee members from
Vavunia, Jaffna and Batticaloa reached by bus to the centre around at 10.30a.m
on 27th July 2011.

02.1 Opening the programme
At the beginning of the programme a facilitator, Mr. Lalith Abeysinghe invited to participants for identify themselves to other participants and to introduce the organisation which they represented from.
02.1.1 Brief introductions of organisations that they represented
Udeitharagai Women’s Federation(UWF) in Jaffna -By Ms. Meelasini
This woman organisation started in 2003 with 20 members of women and now it has more than 2000 members. Currently they are receiving donations from various organisations and assisting by giving aids for small groups of self employment. These aids are not a loan but the material things.

another participant attended to the programme from Jaffna representing Women Rural Development Society(WRDS) in the noon.
Centre for Peace & Reconciliation (CPR) in Vavunia - by Miss.Jasothini
Main function is to conduct Peace programme in school level. Through these programmes they tried to ensure peace .Ministry of Education allow to visit to these schools. In Vavunia the CPR has started before two years. They have selected some school students for granting a scholarships including to disables.
Non Violence Peace Programme(NVPP)- By Miss.Sivakasenthiny
Started 2009 as peace organisation. Same as other organisations mentioned in above they are providing aids for Self employment. Especially they assist to ensure security within the period of election in the country.
Peoples Action for Peoples Development (PAPD) in Batticaloa- By Miss.Prema
Basically they activate with small groups and started in 2004.Most members are widows in this movement. In every small group have Chairman, Secretary, And Treasurer and including two of them in particular small group open a bank account and through it they giving a loans for self employment. Mostly they do not give money as loan. Giving some resources for self employment .Within two years they reimburse particular loan without any interest.
Community Education Center- By Ms.Daya
Started in 1978.Targeted to ensure the rights of all Sinhala Tamil and Muslim Community. With initiating stage of this organisation they had not any support from any person or org. But small professional groups worked together. Then aids have received and through it as an org. they empowered women as well as Childs and established later as “Wikalpanee”. They Promote concepts on women empowerment in all stages with giving priorities in decision making level, good education for children from their childhood in nursery, and Ayurvedic medicine. Extraordinarly engage with other women org as network.

03. Identify the objectives
Why we came here today?
To gain new knowledge to upliftment of women To give new knowledge to the society How to share my current knowledge with these knowledge which
would be able to get today from this programme. To build new relationship and share Ideas To Sharing new methodologies To sharing knowledge and resources To get awareness on other organisational works To create own programme to work with North, South and East
women To create unchangeable women Unity To help to build up co-existence and Unity through SAVISTHRI To build up secure situation through this programme
Objective of this identification is to build up own framework to work together with getting support from North, South & the East.
After the Tea break Mr.Lalith clustered all above objectives in to 06 as
1. Gain awareness on new knowledge/Methodologies for provide those to the Society.
2. Exchanging Experiences.3. Share current knowledge and resources.4. Build up new relationships and confirm it.5. Build up secure situation through this programme to prevent
insecurity and racial discriminations.6. Design a programme to empower women with combination of the
North, South & the East
And he invited to participants, to give their priorities as what would be the first they wants to do immediately in near future and what would be the second as they wish. According to their priorities,
a) 2 participants has given their priority to 01st objective as first to do and 2 participants has given their priorities to 01st objective as second to do
b) 4 participants has given their priority to 02nd objective as first to do and 2 participants has given their priorities to 02nd objective as second to do

c) 3 participants has given their priority to 03rd objective as first to do and 4 participants has given their priorities to 03rd objective as second to do
d) 8 participants has given their priority to 04th objective as first to do and 1 participant has given their priorities to 04th objective as second to do
e) 7 participants has given their priority to 05th objective as first to do and 9 participants has given their priorities to 05th objective as second to do
f) 3 participants has given their priority to 06th objective as first to do and 7 participants has given their priorities to 06th objective as second to do
According to these priorities Mr.Lalith has given 2 marks for first priority in whatever objective mentioned in above and 1mark for second priority in whatever objective. Result was,
01st objective got 06 marks altogether
02nd objective got 10 marks
03rd objective got 10 marks
04th objective got 17 marks
05th objective got 23 marks
06th objective got 13 marks
Then Mr. lalith selected 05th and 04th objectives to prepare work plan and segregated participants in to 03 groups. Invited them to suggest that what we will be doing and how it will be implementing in own region for succeed of both objectives (04th & 05th) in here and after participants agree to use first objective for 05th and second objective for 04th.

02nd group: Identifying women’s needs and build up women’s organisation

: Have to obtain our rights as women by us
04th group: Build up broad and strength full women organisation representing
from S/E/N (South, East, and North)

When all these summarised it was generalised as,
“Build up women’s Organisation in national level”This was the outcome and above objective regarding with this was the goal.
Then Mr.Lalith segregated participants again according to 01st objective needs as

To find and discuss what are the activities to attain these needs and to identify threats and sources that they have currently. Every need should come from bottom of the society
Ex: to build up National Women’s Organisation as a outcome to attain this create activities from bottom and gradually develop up to top.
