The RSRL book guide is a color coding scheme where books are shelved according to their colorcode (found at the lower portion of the book's spine). The coding scheme followed is:--> light yellow - generalities (e.g. research, journalism, bibliographies) --> green - psychology, philosophy --> light blue - religion --> black - social sciences (e.g. education, political science, law) --> orange - language --> pink - natural science and mathematics --> yellow - applied science (e.g. engineering, accounting, management) --> peach - music and arts --> red - literature --> dark blue - history and biography --> white - novels/fiction --> luminous green - special collection, Bicol references

Reading Areas

The library set up is conducive to learning. The following sections in the library provide adequate spacefor research and reading:--> Reserve - a section that contains reading materials that are limited, and highly-anticipated when

needed and requested. Borrowing of books is allowed only for a limited period of time (1 hour, 3 hours, overnight, 3 days, etc.

--> Filipiniana - materials published containing information on Philippine culture and history whetherpublished by Filipino or foreign authors

--> Circulation - an area in the library where a variety of books and other materials are shelved. Theseresources may be checked out by registered borrowers for use inside or outside the library.

--> General Reference - These materials provide in-depth information on a broad range of subjects. (e.g. encyclopedia, dictionaries, almanac, yearbooks, bibliography, etc.)

--> Research - a collection in the library that supports specialized research in an academic discipline orfield. Most collections include primary sources (manuscripts), secondary sources (unpublished theses, etc.), and the bibliographic tools needed to conduct an exhaustive search.

--> Periodical - a collection containing magazines, journals, newspapers and other ephemeral materials.

--> Local Governance - an area in the library that contains publications regarding Naga City's widely- recognized government programs; and the texts of bills, resolutions, ordinances, reports,periodicals and other resource materials used by the city government.

Membership

Users of the library only have to present their identification card. Those who would like to bring homebooks and reference materials, however, must be library members. They have to present their LibraryCard.

Requirement for Membership: --> Duly filled up application form for Library Membership --> Photocopy of current school/office ID --> Photocopy of any billing statement (e.g. water or electric bill, etc.)

Membership Fee

The Membership is allowed to bonafide resident of Naga City. Library Holders are allowed to borrow six(6) books at a time for a week.

The membership fee is P 40.00 which gave the holder the opportunity to borrow books for two (2) years.An annual Bookmobile ID in the amount of Php 20.00 was introduced to allow library clients in areaswhere the Bookmobile operates in the upper schools and Barangays of Naga City.Borrowing Books:

--> No fee is charged for borrowing and bringing home books --> But the Library charges the following penalties for returning reference materials beyond the

due date:

Applying for the Iskolarkan Ciudad Program

THE ISKOLAR kan Ciudad Program (City ScholarProgram) provides scholarships to deserving butless-privileged high school graduates who wantto pursue a college education. Except for special cases (e.g. valedictorian of theNaga City Science High School, etc.), the scholarmust choose a school or university within thecity.

Those who would like to avail of the program may apply at the CHRMO. Applicants must meet thefollowing qualifications:

--> A resident of Naga City and of good moral character. --> A high school graduate, at least average in scholastic standing (with a weighted grade average

of 85% and above) and with no failing grade in any subject. --> Belonging to a poor family that cannot afford to send the student-applicant to college.

-> Family income is not more than P 45,000.00 a year (for those with up to 2 children in school)-> Family income is not more than P 50,000.00 a year (for those with 3 or more children in school)

--> Not a recipient of any scholarship grant, public or private.

Enrolling at city schoolsfor early education anddevelopment (SEED)

The city government runs an early educationprogram for all pre-schoolers in the city. CalledNaga Early Education and Development (NEED),the program is managed by the CSWDO. NEEDcombines the Department of Social Welfare andDevelopment's (DSWD) traditional day careservices with Montessori-type pre-schooleducation.There are currently 64 Schools for Early Education and Development (SEED) under the NEED program.There is an average of 2 SEEDs for each of the city's 27 barangays. Aside from those in the barangays,the city maintains a model day care center/preschool at Barangay Tinago-the Naga City SEED MontessoriSchool.

The SEEDs usually charge a minimal monthly fee. This is determined in consultation with the CSWDO,the barangay council where the SEED is located, and the parents-teachers association andhomeowner's association, if any.

Main FacilitiesClients may visit the Centrum and go to the following galleries:--> MAIN GALLERY - with an assortment of interactive exhibits demonstrating various science

concepts and principles from the different areas/branches of science. --> SCI-ART CUBBYHOLE - play area that caters to kids 7 years old and below. A collection of

interactive toys (Little and LEGO building blocks) that helps on the psychomotor developmentof children

--> GALLERY ON LIGHTS, COLORS AND SHAPES - an existing exhibition og thr interplay of light tovarious colors and shapes. One of the favorite galleries of both the young and the old.

--> ASTROMONOMY GALLERY - a virtual space travel adventure. The gallery showcase a number ofmechanize solar system models, orbiters, scale model of space crafts, murals, EX3 mobile planetarium system, seven astronomical binoculars and two MEADE computerized telescopes.

--> KIDSMART EARLY LEARNING PROGRAM - a number of Young Explorers Computerscontaining EduQuest's Early Learning Childhood Education for 3-7 years old. Also includesScience Education Institute's users-friendly and interactive Learning Modules for Science andmathematics for Elementary and Secondary Schools.

--> ENVIRONMENTAL GALLERY - a gallery that functionally showcase the Naga River, its marinelife and aquatic resources, explicating measures to protect and preserve its ecosystem. Consist of a table top miniature river, a large aquarium and digital animated presentation titled "Lola Pia"..

--> IBM TRYSCIENCE KIOSK - a powerful and large computer that serves as the gateway to experience the excitement of contemporary S & T through on and offline interaction with S & T centers worldwide

--> OPTICAL ILLUSION GALLERY - a collection of puzzles, abstract shapes and drawings that keepyou from seeing what's there - or make you see something that isn't there at all!

Skywatch GalleryBSTC also has a SKYWATCH GALLERY, which features telescopes for stargazing, and a PLANETARIUM.The planetarium is a simulation of the constellations. The use of this gallery, however, is onlyavailable upon request.

Schools and other municipalities may requestfor a Science-on-Wheels Traveling Exhibition onan agreed date, time and place. Three (3)Traveling Centrum packages are offered:

2. Machine at Work - General Science, sets of knockdown interactive exhibits. 3. Sci-Art Cubbyhole for Toddlers and Pre-schoolers-play area for children seven years and below.

Interactive exhibit toys that help in the psychomoti development of a child.

Transportation, lodging and other hosting conditions are arranged and agreed upon by therequesting party and the BSTC Administrator.
