a. A service uniform that consist of an army blue coat, trousers or slacks, a short or long sleeve

shirt a black four-in-hand tie or neck tabs.

8. What is a formal inspection

a. An official examination of JROTC units that takes place on a prescribed schedule.

9. What is the Class B uniform

a. A service uniform same as the class A uniform expect the coat is not worn.

10. What are shoulder marks?

a. A pair of broad pieces of stiffened cloth worn on the shoulders of the class A or B uniform to

display the grade of the cadet.

11. How do you wear the name plate (for boys)?

a. Centered on the right pocket between the top pocket seam and the top of the pocket button

hole.

12. How do you wear the honor unit insignia (for boys)?

a. Center the honor unit star one-quarter of an inch above the top seam of the right pocket.

Requirement #29 Cadet must demonstrate/teach how to correctly conduct normal interval and close

interval spacing in a formation.

Note that the far right Cadet is facing forward and the far left Cadet does not raise their left arm as there

is no cade to the left of them to provide spacing for.

Requirement #30 Cadet Drill: Cadet must march a minimum of 12 Cadets to the JPA standard.

A flag or marker placed directly opposite the reviewing stand or cadre team will designate the start

point for drill. The Cadet drill will assemble in a line formation at the designated start point facing the

reviewing stand or the cadre team; at a signal from the cadre team, the Cadets will perform the

following movements in sequence.

Requirement #32 Cadet Must be a LET 3 or 4 and serving as a Primary Staff NCO or Company Training

Officer.

Cadet First Sergeant Requirements 1-36

Requirement #33 Cadet First Sergeant must be capable of conducting in-ranks inspection of all cadets

assigned to their company.

IN-RANKS INSPECTION

To conduct in-ranks inspections, use the following procedures:

a. With the platoon in line formation, the platoon sergeant commands Count, OFF. On the command of

execution OFF, all personnel with the exception of the right flank personnel turn their head and eyes to

the right and the right flank personnel count off with "ONE." After the right flank soldiers have counted

their number, the soldiers to their left count off with the next higher number and simultaneously turn

their head and eyes to the front. All other members of the formation count off in the same manner until

the entire formation has counted off.

b. After the platoon has counted off, the platoon sergeant commands Open Ranks, MARCH. On the

command of execution MARCH, the front rank takes two steps forward, the second rank takes one step

forward, the third rank stands fast, and the fourth rank takes two steps backward. (If additional ranks

are present, the fifth rank takes four steps backward, and the sixth rank takes six steps backward.)

NOTE: After taking the prescribed number of steps, the men do not raise their arms. If the platoon

leader wants exact interval or alignment, he commands At Close Interval (At Double Interval), Dress

Right, DRESS.

c. At this point, the platoon is ready to be inspected. Typically, the squads are inspected by the squad

leaders; however they may be inspected by the platoon sergeant or platoon leader. (See paragraphs 7-

17 and 7-18 FM 3-21.5 .)
