According to the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine on August 29, 1994 created Ternopil Academy of National Economy - higher educational establishment of university type. The presentation took place on 28 October 1994, as the day of the time by the decision of the Senate and the Academic Council of the Academy was Day - a holiday of its students, faculty and staff. From that time is counting the academic status of an educational institution. Since April 2005 the Academy was renamed in Ternopil National Economic University. Ternopil national pedagogical University

Since 1995 according to the order of the Ministry of defense of Ukraine (№ 25 dated February 1, 1995) at the Institute created an educational complex, which included Kremenets pedagogical College, Chortkiv pedagogical school, Ternopil oblast Institute of post-graduate education. Its activities contribute to multistage teacher training, quality selection of entrants to higher education, saving money on teacher training.

The University is only in the state language. In recent years, substantially updated content of curricula and programs, introduced module-rating system of education, computer technology, licensed by the new specialties prepared by master training programs. University students take part in national competitions. Only in 1996 at 10 Olympiads University students won 12 prizes, including 7 first.

HistoryBased on 12 April 1957, as state medical Institute. July 1, 1992, the Institute named after academician I. I. Gorbachev. January 30, 1997 reorganized into state medical Academy named I. J. Gorbachevskogo.November 17, 2004 reorganized into state medical University named after I. I. Gorbachev.

The University has more than 3500 students, including more than 800 foreign nationals from 51 countries, more than 90% of which are taught in English. More than 50 % of University teachers received certificates in teaching students in English. Preparations are being made for the training of French-speaking students. The teaching of foreign citizens in the English language has been taught since 1998.
