A university with a history and a future The UdG is a public, multipurpose and interdisciplinary university, rooted in and shaped by a country rich in culture and knowledge that has been at the crossroads of civilisation. It has opened itself to Europe thanks to a first-rate commitment to economic and social development. It offers programmes in a variety of fields the sciences, technology, the humanities and the arts, the social sciences, education and health, with nine faculties and schools on three campuses.

A university at your sideThe UdG is committed to quality in teaching, with a personalised approach, individualised attention for students, and a wide range of undergraduate, graduate and master’s programmes, based on the benchmarks of the European Higher Education Area. It is also committed to the greening of the university, solidarity and to cooperation for development, and is an integral part of a city that offers many possibilities for cultural and leisure activities.

A research universityThe UdG has outstanding research capacity and the potential to have a practical impact on the local business fabric, with more than a hundred diverse research groups. Accommodations

Research at the UdG is mainly focussed on two strategic lines: (1) water science and management, and (2) tourism and sustainability. Furthermore, the UdG pursues research in a few important research and innovation programmes that have attained a prominent role at the university: scientific research, the dissemination of its results and its ensuing social influence are also focussed on computer simulation and applications, food and agriculture, biomedicine, the quality of life and cultural heritage. The University of Girona joins its Science and Technology Park and several Catalan and Spanish research institutions in its pursuit of research excellence. For that purpose it has 11 research institutes and academic personnel in 24 departments and 116 research groups (62 in the humanities and social sciences, 50 in science, technology and health fields). Moreover, 21 chairs allow closer interaction with Girona’s environment.
