• You should receive:• One Mainboard• One Bluetooth board• One Servo Driver board• One Gyroscope board• Two Stepper Motor Driver boards• One Battery holder• Six RJ45 cables• Two MG996R servos• Two Stepper motors

Batteries are not supplied in the kit. You will need six AA batteries. You can also use a 3-cell LiPo battery with appropriate connector.

Mainboard holds Arduino Micro controller and provides six RJ45 connectors to connect various peripheral boards, such as Bluetooth, Gyroscope, etc.

Mainboard also has a connector for battery and a power switch.

Bluetooth board is based on HC-06 Bluetooth module. It’s connected to the mainboard’s ‘A’ connector.

Red LED on the Bluetooth board is steady when the module is connected to another Bluetooth device and it blinks otherwise.

Roby uses two servos to control two arms. Servos are driven by a Servo Driver Board. This board supplies 4.8V/2A power and control signals from the Mainboard to the servos.

Servos consume as much power as needed to move arms or keep arm in the desired position.Do not touch the Servo Driver Board as it may become hot during operation.

Gyroscope Board allows for Roby’s balancing act. It provides tilt and acceleration information to the Arduino controller on the Mainboard.

The Gyroscope Board utilizes an MPU6050 module with six axis of freedom.

Roby is sensitive to a proper installation of the Gyroscope Board. Adjust the MPU6050 daughter module if necessary to make sure it is horizontal when Roby is vertical.

Roby uses the same NEMA17 stepper motors used in many 3-D printers. These motors allow for a precise wheel control. The kit comes with two Stepper Motor Driver boards built on DRV8825 stepstick.

Do not touch the Stepper Motor Driver Boards as the DRV8825 module may become hot during operation.The boards are pre-configured for 1.7A NEMA motors and 32 micro-steps.

Battery holder is intended for eight AA batteries which should be sufficient for driving Roby for a couple of hours depending on operation conditions and capacity of the batteries.

You can also use rechargeable AA batteries. However, due to different voltage and capacity Roby may behave slightly differently. You can also use 3-cell LiPo battery with an appropriate power connector.

All peripheral boards are connected to the Mainboard with an RJ45 cable. RJ45 connector along with a network quality cable provides reliable connection and is easy to use.

Kit comes with two powerful MG996R servos which allow to manipulate Roby’s arms.

You can also use MG995 or any other 4.8V servos. However, make sure not to exceed 2A current drained from the Servo Driver Board.

NEMA17 Stepper Motors allow Arduino controller to move Roby’s wheels with high precision. These are the same motors you can find in many 3-D printers. There are two such motors in the kit – one per wheel.

It’s normal for the motors to get quite warm during operation.
