Wall Thickness Monitor
The ULTRACORR 2 is the next evolution in the portable ULTRACORR Corrosion/Erosion Monitoring System which provides the highest resolution and most cost effective, direct wall thickness and temperature measurement on a pipe or vessel, using fixed Ultrasonic sensors mounted at various locations throughout a site.
The ULTRACORR 2 Reader/Datalogger is intrinsically safe and ideal for offshore, refinery or pipeline applications where direct corrosion/erosion of complex pipe geometry is desired or where monitoring locations are in areas where access may be limited. The ULTRACORR system will complement the process corrosion/erosion information obtained from the intrusive probe technique.
After initial installation, access to the monitoring point is no longer required. The sensor will be permanently fixed to the outer pipe wall and the cable/connector can be run to a convenient location for taking thickness and temperature readings using the reader/data logger unit. These readings can then be downloaded using an IS Bluetooth hand held transfer unit (TU-500) and subsequenly transferred to a PC running Cosasco Data Offline software for storage and trend analysis.
The ULTRACORR 2 sensors are Zone 1 rated for temperatures up to 302°F (150°C) and are equipped with an integral RTD temperature sensor which enables taking of simultaneous metal thickness and pipe wall temperature readings. The instrument incorporates sensor/material temperature compensation. The new generation of sensors are embedded with smart sensors that retain user configured ID characteristics and parameters.
Typical measurement time per sensors is a few seconds. The user can program the ULTRACORR 2 to collect data using the IS Zone 1 rated portable TU-500. Data can be collected from as many as 256 sensors, or alternatively, it can be programmed to collect up to 2000 data points from one sensor at programmed intervals. The stored data is downloaded by the TU-500 and then transferred to a PC for analysis with the Cosasco Data Offline Corrosion Management Software.
