As political and social discourse across the western world becomes more polarised and populist in tone, leading international filmmakers come together to discuss the responsibilities of filmmakers and the role narrative films can play in creating empathy and encouraging tolerance. How can we harness the power of film, our dominant cultural force, to inspire and effect change?

Speakers: Rosie Alison (producer, Heyday Films) and Jonathan King (executive vice president narrative film, Participant Media).

International independent producers discuss how they have taken advantage of the flexibility and inclusivity of the UK tax credit to base their post-production and VFX in the UK and combine with other international incentives.

Speakers: Clare Coulter (business affairs manager, BFI) and Peter la Terriere (managing director, European Film Bonds).

This is the elusive demographic that helped spur the success of recent indie breakouts including Hunt For The Wilderpeople, Moonlight, The Eagle Huntress and My Scientology Movie. International distribution and marketing experts will discuss the release and marketing strategies behind these and other films, and look at what we can learn from China, a market driven by the youth audience.
