Create Alerts and files in EBSCO

Access all your searches done in EBSCO HOST

ESBCO HOST WILL HELP YOU CREATE YOUR OWN FILES AND SAVE SEARCHES

& ARTICLES LIKE YOU DO ON YOUR OWN COMPUTER

Please create your own EBSCO account for the following services: Search alerts, publication alerts, saving all your searches and articles in

EBSCO server. Select the Sign In option and after that Create a new Account.

Complete all the information requested and write down your user name & password in a place you can remember.

Your name will appear at the top of the page. Always check your name to be sure you can save your results. Before saving, first create a new folder by clicking the

New icon

Write in the folder name, the course number and name or your subject searches, and in notes the terms or the assignment.

Click the New Search

To organize folders within folders, use the Move Folder to option.

You have registered yourself into EBSCO HOST and opened the file CRITICAL THINKING where you will file your

results.

Now let’s do the search and apply what we have learned

Your name should remain at the top of your results page. We will search “critical thinking” and “learning” in the “field AB Abstract.” Click

the Full text box and Peer Reviewed Journals. Select the period from January 2000 to July 2010 and click SEARCH.

From the previous search we retrieved more than 250 full text documents. Limit the search using the same words but selecting the

TI TITLE in the field option and sort them by relevance.

Now start selecting your articles and saving them into your folder, CRITICAL THINKING. Click Add to folder and save them by selecting critical thinking. When you have finished filing, please open your

folder to verify what you have done.

Open your CRITICAL THINKING folder and verify your results before logging out or continuing with the alerts assignment.

Let’s go back to your results by clicking back

Now, continue with EBSCO ALERT service for searches and publications

Back in your results, click on Alert/Save/Share

Select the option create an alert of your search, and you will receive the updates in your email.

Write the email where you want to receive the alerts from your search

THERE ARE TWO WAYS TO CREATE EBSCO’S PUBLICATION ALERTS

•From the search results•Directly from the Publication list

From Search results, click on the title of the article.

From the Source, click on Public Integrity.

Click on Alert/Save/Share

After you open the option, select Create an alert and write in the email address where you want to

receive the alerts.

Click on Sign In and write the email address where you want to receive

the alerts.

Write your email address and click Save Alert.

To verify it, go to your folder and click on Journal Alert.

From the Publication list

Let’s learn how to create a publication or journal alert

From EBSCO basic or advanced search, select the Publication box.

Write the journal title in the browsing box, and click browse, leaving the alphabetical option on.

Click on Alert/Save/Share. After the option opens, select Create an alert and write the email addrewss

where you want to receive the alerts.

Write in your email and click the Save Alert box

After saving the Alert, the screens asks you more specific questions regarding the alert.

Write your email address, the subject, and the title.

After you have completed the form, the system confirms your alert.

Click in your Folder to verify your Publication Alert.

If your are trying to request an alert and you receive the following

answer,It means that you need to sign in to

your EBSCO HOST again.
