Kindergarten Reminder: Make your kids physicals and dental

check-ups now! Do you have their birth certificates and social

security cards? Are their immunizations up-to-date? Have

you registered them? The time is now to start with rituals if

not already done so. Start with nightly

baths, story time and bed by 8:30 . If you

need more information, please contact

your home visiting person. Did you know

that lack of sleep in children is directly

linked to kids being overweight?

Family Care Connection Turtle Creek News and Resources

According to the National Institutes of Health, “ Getting enough quality sleep at the right times can help protect a child’s mental and physical health, quality of life, and safety”. Did you know that Sleep is just as important to a child's health

and development as nutrition and physical activity? 3-5 year olds need about 11-13 hours of sleep nightly and even 9-10 year olds need about 10 hours of sleep. Some studies are actu-ally linking obesity in kids to their lack of enough sleep. This is August. School will be starting in a few weeks. The time is now to get you and your kids back into a nightly routine which may start as early as 7pm! Bath, snack, teeth brushing and a quiet time with a book is a typical routine. Children love to be read to and what a great way to bond with your kids! Have FUN!!
