WOLFMET – EXCELLENCE IN TUNGSTENWith approvals to supply Wolfmet tungsten heavy alloys to a number of principal aircraft manufacturers,

M&I Materials is recognised as one of the World’s leading aerospace tungsten providers.

Choosing Wolfmet gives you

a single source solution for all your

tungsten heavy alloy requirements.

From the processing of raw materials

to the precision machining of finished

parts, we handle it all. We also supply

sintered tungsten blocks to

customers who prefer to

finish machine themselves.

We have more than 40 years’

experience in the end-to-end

production of tungsten heavy alloys.

We excel at turning powder into parts

and precision machining tungsten. As

a result, we can produce high quality

tungsten components to very tight

tolerances from a material

that is notoriously difficult

to machine.

As well as product and service

excellence, our experienced

engineers and professionally qualified

metallurgists are

able to provide you with guidance on

manufacturability and innovative

design requirements.

We have more than 40 years’ experience in the end-to-end production of tungsten heavy alloys.

AEROSPACE APPLICATIONSWolfmet tungsten heavy alloy is most commonly used to balance static and dynamic components and reduce

vibrations on aircraft. In particular, a high concentration of weight can easily be added to a confined space to gain

the optimum control and stability of moving parts. In some cases less weight can actually be used because Wolfmet

tungsten is a denser material and so provides a better balancing moment.

ROTOR BLADES Helicopter rotor blades demand

perfect balance. Wolfmet can be

utilised to compensate for any

imbalances found in individual blades

during the manufacturing process

or installation.

TRIM WEIGHTS

During the last stages of assembly,

weights may be required to adjust the

final balance of the aircraft. Wolfmet

is the natural choice when working in

a restricted space. It can also offer

the advantage of reducing the total

trim weight mass because higher

density materials can be located

further from the pivot point whilst

achieving the same moment.

BUCKING BARS

Wolfmet bucking bars are ideal for

vibration damping in the riveting

process during the assembly and

repair of an aircraft.

FLIGHT CONTROL SYSTEMS

Wolfmet counter balances are used

to optimise the performance

of flight control surfaces,

such as rudders,

elevators and ailerons.

PROPELLERS

Wolfmet counterweights are

incorporated into the pitch

control system of many propeller

designs as a fail-safe device

to prevent overspeeding.
