Community Kindergarten Family Fun NightOn Tuesday evening, November 14, we will be hosting our annual Kindergarten Fun Night. This fun, hands on, arts and crafts evening is for current kindergarteners and their parents as well as prospective families with 4 year olds who have a learning interest in what our school offers children and families. Please invite families you know who may be interested in learning about Assumption. Pizza and refreshments will be served, 5:30 - 7:00 p.m.Carline DismissalWhen entering carline please remember to drive all the way up to the front, this will provide our traffic team to fit more cars in at one time, filling your vehicles with your students more quickly and safely. Although it might be more convenient for you to stop at your child's classroom, it prevents cars behind you from picking their child up and creates congestion and traffic. Additionally, it is imperative that students and guardians are safe during pickup. Please remember to park near the half basketball courts and use the crosswalk when entering and leaving the pickup area. The gate is for cars only (not pedestrians), and cars should not park in the spaces near the convent during carline. The Fulton Avenue gate opens at 2:55 p.m. (1:55 p.m. on Wednesdays). Cars are to begin being loaded with students at 3:00 p.m. (2:00 p.m. on Wednesdays). Thank you!Student Leaders ServeLast Friday, Assumption’s Student Leadership Team and Campus Ministry collected the emergency food our families were asked to provide for our emergency supply. The students sorted out the food from last year’s supply, then they went to each classroom and stored the food in their class bin. The team sorted out the expired food into the trash and compost, cleaned out the bins and took out the trash. Students also gathered last year’s food and delivered it to our Saint Vincent de Paul Conference. All students worked hard last Friday; they showed leadership and displayed what Jesus

Prayer
Merciful God, We come before you troubled and distraught over the violent acts in New York and in Texas. Those who died were innocent victims Lord, welcome them to YOUR eternal life. We pray for your comfort, for your guidance, and for your healing for all those who are suffering. May we remain faithful in the face of senseless violence, as your Son did; with His words and example in mind, we also pray for the attackers and all those for whom violence seems the only answer. Please help us find ways to live in YOUR peace. We offer our prayer through Christ our Lord,
Amen.University of Notre Dame

May you cherish friendswho value friendshipas deeply as you do,who yearn to see all of you,who prod you to grow, who bring joy to the doldrums, who forgive moments gone awry.May you hold close the friendswho elevate the titleto a sacred state,a place of grace and mercy, where apprehensions are lifted, and trust is cemented.May you treasure these friends, for they are sprinkled sparinglythrough our lives, like turquoise sea glasson a beige beach.

teaches us, Whoever gives to the poor will not want (Proverbs 28:27). Our student leaders executed true Trojan spirit by stepping up to the plate. They helped the community and did what Jesus would do. We thank SLT and Campus Ministry for their service to the school. –Mary C. (’19)Peace St. Leanders Strikes BackOn October 28th, the Assumption Dads Club hosted the Dads Club of St. Leander at Thrasher Park for a friendly game of softball. This was the second time that the two teams met. Assumption Dads showed up representing Trojan pride wearing their blue team jerseys. The game was close with each team matching the other inning for inning. Even though Assumption played with valiant effort, St. Leander pulled ahead in the last inning and was victorious. Overall, it was a great day with two parish school communities coming together for a friendly sporting competition and ending with a family friendly potluck. Until next time St. Leander. -Mr. Alejandro LopezAre You Ready For Some FootballThe Dads Club Annual Turkey Bowl will be on Friday, Nov. 24th, following Thanksgiving at 10:30 at Parsons Park in Castro Valley. This is a fun game of touch football for the whole family to enjoy. There will be a potluck of small dishes as well. Please see the attached flyer. See you there!Fun Run ClothingAll students are invited to wear athletic attire next Friday, November 17, for our Fun Run. All grades have been assigned a colored shirt. If your child does not have that color shirt they can wear a white shirt. Students are expected to wear comfortable running shoes and attire. Please no yoga pants/leggings unless they are covered with shorts to the top of the knee. Assigned colors are:
Kindergarten: Orange 1st: Red 2nd: Silver/Grey3rd: Blue 4th: Pink 5th: Green6th: Black 7th: Purple 8th: Gold
Coats and Jackets for HomelessThis year, the 5th grade service project will be collecting clean, gently used, coats/jackets and blankets for the homeless. I thought that since most of the children have, or had, a favorite blanket, being without something warm or something to snuggle with would be a problem that most of the children could empathize with and want to help solve. 5th grade would like to invite our school community to help us bring warmth to the many that need it. We know that we can count on you to get the word to your families and friends that donations are welcome. Our drive will be until November 15th. Please feel free to drop off your donation items in 5th grade before the morning assembly or after school. Thank you in advance for your support! -Ms. FalleiroNew Attendance EmailWe are excited to unveil our new attendance email: [email protected]. Please email any student absence, half day absence, or medical appointment notification before 9:00 a.m. You are still welcome to call the school office to report absences. Thank you in advance as we institute this new policy.

It’s NOVEMBER at Extended Care ! We closed out the last week of October with a bang! What a wild week it was! We had our first SPEECHCRAFT class which was a big hit. I kept having to add more chairs as the room filled up! I asked around the next day and heard lots of positive comments. Samantha G.(5th) mentioned that Mrs. Galvan also gave fashion advice for public speakers, for example, if you are a blusher, to wear pink or red colors not white. The contrast will not be so obvious. Isa W.(8th) mentioned that there is a positive and powerful way to introduce oneself. Someone else mentioned clues to help with dry mouth and nerves. They covered many facets of public speaking, and that was just the beginning! Åll the kids want to return for the next class, and I am going to have to put up more chairs! Our next class, the famous Baking with Chef Shurma class, was filled to capacity the first day it was announced. I apologize to the students who did not make it into the limited class this time, however, we have talked Chef Shurma into adding more classes! Friday November 17th will be pie baking day. Each student will go home with two pies. Students make the pies and filling and put it all together. December 8th they will bring home a box of Christmas cookies ( fingerprint, sand roses and sand cookies). On February 9th there will be Valentine cookies to bake and decorate! And our classroom received improvements too! Kaethen(3rd) and Kaitlin D.(1st) delighted the younger kids by bringing in a kitchen set and a really cool batman cave/castle! Those were immediately pressed into service, to put it mildly. Thank you very much Kaethen and Kaitlin! Stay tuned for more exciting adventures in Extended! (we are located right next to the basketball courts , with easy access to Stickville and free parking ). Come spend some fun time with us!
