Notes From The PrincipalWelcome to a new school year. I am very excited to be back into the full swing ofthings. I hope your first few weeks have been exciting and successful. I want youto know that it is always our desire to help you and your student have a successfulexperience at Trinity. As we start this new year I have a few things to share withyou and ask of you to help make this year great.

First of all, I want to thank you for the overwhelming voter support we had for thebond election that passed at the end of last year. We strive to never forget that wework for the benefit and at the will of the community. Your support for ourschools is greatly appreciated.

I encourage you to make contact with each of your students teachers. Making thiscontact now serves several purposes. First and foremost it conveys a message toyour student that you are interested in their school and that you want an opendialogue with the teachers so that you can stay actively involved. This also helpsthe teachers share information with you. It is far easier for teachers to add yourinfo to their address book if you email them first. It is also frequently easier forteachers to return phone calls than it is to originate them. Making contact early, before there are any problems, establishes an open line of communication thatcan prove invaluable if an issue does arise later.

I also encourage you to sign up for PIV (Pinnacle Internet Viewer.) This allowsyou to see your students grades for all of their classes in real time. This can be setup to notify you if a grade falls below a certain level, if a zero is entered, orsomething like that. If you are not already signed up for this, you can get theregistration information from the main office here at school.

One last thing I would like to ask of you concerns our dress code. In the TrinityStudent Planner, the first sentence regarding the dress code says, In the traditionof Trinity High School, our student body will exemplify respect for themselves andeach other by dressing appropriately during the school day. I would like to askthat you please have a conversation with your student about what this really means.I do not want to get in to the game of making a list of things you cant wear. Iwould much rather help our students learn that they project an image based onwhat they wear and that it is important to make sure that image matches how theytruly want to be thought of. By helping them to have a high level of self-respect, Ibelieve that we can take care of the dress code issues without having to argue about

things like is this really fingertip length or not.

I want you to know that I always welcome parent calls, emails, and visits. If youhave any questions, comments, or concerns please dont hesitate to contact me.

    Thanks,Mike Harris

    Trinity Trojan PTA

Welcome to the 2011-2012 school year at Trinity High School! My name is LindaGrady, and this is my second year to serve as THS PTA president. I hope you allhad a wonderful summer, and are as excited about the new school year as I am! Wehave a lot of great plans and programs in store for this year, and are looking

forward to serving the needs of Trinity students, staff, and parents as best as wecan.

First of all, I would like to extend a great big thank you to everyone who helped thePTA feed the awesome faculty and staff with our annual welcome back breakfast. We had a bunch of yummy breakfast casseroles, pastries, and fruit, which weregreatly appreciated by the staff. It was a terrific way to begin the year, and let themknow how much they are appreciated for all that they do for our children.

We had many of our incoming sophomore parents sign up for PTA membershipson New Trojan Night, which we were very excited about! Your students should

have received a PTA membership envelope during the first week of school. If youhave not seen it yet, please be sure to ask about it and sign up now. We are needingas many members as possible, so sign up all moms, dads, grandparents, aunts, anduncles--even students are eligible to join as well! Please contact our MembershipVP, Sharon Armendariz, [email protected] moreinformation.

Your $8.50 membership helps the PTA to provide scholarships to graduatingseniors; to present programs that educate and inform students, parents, and thecommunity at large; and to show appreciation to the faculty and staff throughoutthe year in various ways. Becoming a member does not require you to volunteer if

youre not interested, so please do not let this stop you from joining PTA!

This year the PTA is also planning on hosting Kona Ice twice a month. The KonaIce truck will be coming on select Thursdays during all lunch times, and studentswill be able to purchase snow cones in three sizes for $2, $3, and $4 each.Additionally, the PTA will be selling cards that offer twelve $1 punches for just$10--a $2 savings! These cards can be used at all Kona ice trucks, so stock up onyour cards now. Cards can be purchased from Mrs. Davenport, our Fundraisingchairperson, in the attendance office.

Look for us at the home football games, selling our supply of t-shirts at great

prices. Be sure to buy yours before they all run out! We are planning on debutingour new Beat Bell t-shirts at the September 9 football game. Were very excitedabout the design, and think they will become fan favorites! Dont forget to getyours in time for the Trinity vs. Bell game on September 29. T-shirts can also bepurchased from Mrs. Davenport as well.

Aside from these positions, were always looking for volunteers to help in variousways. We need help selling t-shirts at home football games, providing food for

Staff Appreciation functions, helping out at these same functions, and donatingprizes for staff appreciation events. For more information, please contact ourVolunteer Chairperson, Jackie Reily, [email protected].

The Black & Blue Community-wide Food Drive Kick-off is September 28-29.

Black VS. Blue celebrates the friendly rivalry between Trinity High School (black) and Bell

High School (blue). Black & Blue celebrates the collaboration taking place and rallies the

community to support those families in need in our own backyards.

The 2010-2011 school year saw 52% of the students enrolled in the HEB ISD classified as

"economically disadvantaged." Hungry students do not typically correlate to successful

students. In 2010, 6 Stones helped over 14,000 residents with emergency assistance of

food and clothing, among its other community projects.

We need your help helping those in need.

There are several ways to give:

Bring food to any Trinity or Bell home game starting with the Bell/Trinity game.

    Trinity Photography Department

The Ft. Worth Camera Club used five members of Trinity's PhotoDepartment as their judges for the August club competition. Theparticipating students were Alyssa Acree, Caroline Garcia, Kristin Williams,Lauren Corbet, and Paul Pizana. It was the first time students had been

asked to judge for the club that has well over a hundred members and mostoften defeats the much larger Dallas Camera Club in their annualcompetition.

The Trinity Photo Department photographed the Hico (TX) Six-Man SuperSaturday football competition the last week in August and also the KirkHerbstreit Football Classic in September in order to provide free photos tothe participating schools which did not have photographers available tocover the special high-profile games.

Robotics Kicks Off at THS & Looks for Engineer Support

The HEB robotics team is back in full swing this year, hoping for anotheroutstanding year. We compete in the local chapters of TCEA and FIRSTrobotics. We have teams for inventions, arena, and the FIRST FTC game(to be released on September 10th). This year we are bringing in 9thgraders from area schools to mentor and grow our team for the future.Last year, we placed 3rd, 7th and 8th in district competition in inventions (andsent a team to state competition), 7th in arena (narrowly missing a wildcardbid to state), and won the Connect Award for FIRST (for our communityinvolvement).

We are in desperate need of an engineer! If you are an engineer andwould be available for approximately one hour a week, we would be forevergrateful! We would also welcome college students that are studyingengineering.

Do you work for a company that would be interested in sponsoring ourteam (either as volunteers or with financial support)? Robotics is anexpensive venture for our school, and we are entirely self-supporting. Wewere able to start a team last year through the gracious support of severalgrants, and private donations to our team. We hope to continue our

success and grow our team. We realize we cant do it without communitysupport.
