"The acquisition o f greater efficiency and improved quality o f the

administration o f the justice is a prime need o f the day, this could be

achieved, inter alia, by imparting training to Judicial Officers through short

and long courses, pre-serviec and in-service training. The curriculum and

workplan o f “criminal procedural law” proposed for the training o f “Civil

Judges & Judicial Magistrates” has been prepared with objcct to equip

them with knowledge and skill, and to raise their competence level with

objeet o f preparing them for meeting the challenging carrier as a Judicial

Officer. As the demand o f judicial capability changes, the curriculum and

planning should be a continuous process o f reform, preferably in

consultation with officers being trained. The curriculum proposed is just

for initial year only and must under go close scrutiny by die trainers and

expert at the end o f the year.

The curriculum proposed here covers only the taught portion o f the

training in the Academy and docs not include the practical learning

component o f the training based on field placement. It is important to

involve such strategies wherein, the field placement gets integrated with

classroom training in such a way that two enforce each other giving the

trainee the requisite knowledge and skill couple with the confidence and

professionalism necessary for Judicial Officers.”
