There has never been a better time to start, grow or locate your business in Limerick.

Limerick City and County Council, through Limerick Twenty Thirty, has secured a total of €170m in loan funding from the European Investment Bank (EIB) and the Council of Europe Development Bank (CEB). In addition Government funding of €1.8m from the Urban Regeneration and Development Fund, for enabling works on the Opera Site, will enable the application for planning permission to proceed in early 2019 and the development of the site to commence in 2019.

In addition, Limerick City and County Council, through Innovate Limerick have secured funding of €2.279m for the development of a state-of the-Art Digital Collaboration Centre at ENGINE in Cecil Street Limerick.

Limerick City and County Council are driving Economic Development in Limerick, in conjunction with the IDA and Enterprise Ireland, and in the small business sector by the Local Enterprise Office (LEO), Limerick.

In Limerick in 2018 the Local Enterprise Office, through an investment of €800,000 by way of grant aid, supported the creation of an additional 155 new jobs in Limerick over the period 2018 – 2020.

There is no doubt that home-grown business ideas that display innovation and creativity will enable us to grow jobs, challenge for market share and demonstrate our capability to adapt in a challenging global economic climate. We have to depend on our entrepreneurs to provide innovative products, processes and knowledge based solutions that will enable us to develop our local economy and enhance job creation.

The development of Owner Managers of small businesses is seen as vital to the continued growth of the small business sector. In 2018 LEO Limerick invested €360,000 in training and development and other programmes to support the growth of business. This level of activity will continue in 2019 and the training and development programme has something for every small business to assist them in their development and growth.

The supports for small business in Limerick are in place through the Local Enterprise Office and there has never been a better time to start, grow or locate your business in Limerick. It encourages women to achieve more satisfying careers and promotes women as worthy contributors to the Irish economy. National Women’s Enterprise Day (NWED):National Women’s Enterprise Day takes place on an annual basis in October at 7 regional locations. The aim of the day is to encourage even more women to set up their own businesses and to increase national recognition of the essential role played by Ireland’s female entrepreneurs.

Local Enterprise Office Limerick supports second level students across Limerick develop an entrepreneurial knowledge and helps foster a culture of entrepreneurship within 2nd level schools.

National Ploughing Championship

From the 17th to 19th September, the ‘Local Enterprise Village,’ managed and funded by the Local Enterprise Offices, including LEO Limerick will be home to 31 diverse start-ups and small businesses from all over the country. Many of the small businesses will be making their debut at the Championships, using the opportunity to launch new products and services to the 280,000 visitors expected by the National Ploughing Association (NPA).
