In this workshop, you will not only start your own coiled basket—you will learn about traditional Native American basket making: plant materials, gathering techniques, weaving techniques, and contemporary basketry among southern California tribes. View our special exhibit, “Generations of Symbols,” and visit our ethnobotany and native plant gardens.

The two-day workshop is part of the museum’s Arts, Naturally initiative, supported in part by the James Irvine Foundation. Led by Lorene Sisquoc and designed for participants 14 years and older, space is strictly limited and pre-registration is required. The cost of $25.00 per person includes both days and all supplies.
