Mask construction

The mask workshop is a complete tutorial that starts from the zero point of constructing a mask and reaches its completio

Participants using simple materials and tools (Gypsogaza, water, scissors, etc.) Very common and easy to use. As a mod

we use another students face and having completed over his face of leaving the mask to dry for a while. Then the roles a

reversed and manufacturer is the one that previously were seated and offered his face like "mold". Once the mask

completed and dry can be used (with caution) that participants learn the use and functionality as well as the impression made

This very fruitful workshop focuses on the acting of the Aristophanian Comedy. We will beginwith the construction of a comedy mask.The participants will work on a authentic text from Aristophanian comedy and they will beintroduced to the characters of the individual roles as well as the significance of the Chorusroles.Participants will speak and they will act.They will move and they will dance upon a specific scene of an Aristophanes comedy.

We propose the Lysistratacomedy.(If the members of the group are boys or mixed boys and girls)

Or Women in Thesmophoria(if they are only girls).

We will be in close contact with the Professors of the groups and we will collaborate withthem in al levels in order for the workshop to be relevant to the lessons and the knowledgethe students about Ancient drama and more specific, Ancient comedy. We will take specialcare of the Stage designing, costumes, the accessories and the lights.The workshop is designed to introduce students to the entire theater procedure. Upon aprofessional theater stage by a professional director and stage designer (for the comedymask construction).After the 45 rehearsal, the students will be able to present a sort performance withcostumes, masks and lights to their teachers. They will have the opportunity to capture theirperformance on video. The event will end with refreshments and a farewell celebration.The participation of some professional actors is possible if necessary.

The subject of the workshop is the method of acting in Ancient Greek Tragedy.

The participants will be involved in an actors procedure and will performcertain roles.

The text and the characters derive from collaboration between our theater andthe professors. Via e-mail the professor can inform the Professional Theaterdirector upon which text should the workshop be based. The Director is

responsible for adjusting the text according to the participant students needs.It depends on the number of the students and their combination (how manyboys, how many girls and their ages ). When ready the text us send back to theprofessors and they give it to the students so they can learn their few lines. So,the workshop will be based on this prepared known text.

The theater will take care of all the stage and costume elements needed as

well as accessories (masks, hats, sticks, spears and other elements).

The workshop will take the form of a Stage Rehearsal and in the end the

students will have completed a performance of about 10 minutes to present totheir professors along with lights and music.

Find out how Greeks dressed in clothes that were not sewed.A rectangular woven piece of cloth in various sizes was worn in such ways as tocreate many interesting designs of clothing.Clothing was made out of natural fibers such as cotton, wool and flax in natural colorsbut also dyed bright if needed.The workshop aims to show the participants the basic pieces of clothing worn byAncient Greek men and women. Furthermore, dressing one self with an actual clothand learn how to keep it together with belts and decorative elements that you willcreate with golden strings, threads and pins. Decorate your head and hair

accordingly.The workshop runs about 2-2,5 hours and consists of :

At the beginning a short lecture with projections of costumes. Creating costumes and accessories Complementary Coffee break. In the end a short piece of performance of Ancient Greek Tragedy.Materials included, please dress in white or light colored clothes.

An interactive game that is played between the audience and the stage, presented by

the actors.At a giant screen the participants see the six main theater buildings.The children decide to animate the theaters with their choices , actors, costumes, hats,shoes and masks. In this way the stages and theaters, with the help of technology, arecompleted and animated with all their relevant details.Through the game the participants learn The World Theater history. From the buildings(ancient, roman, Elizabethan theater stage etc.) to the way the actors dressed, theircostumes and masks during the various theater ages. Furthermore, they learn aboutthe plays, the writers and the dramatic action. The tutor finds the chance to talk inbetween with the children and provide information and knowledge via playing.

At the same time actors will present costumes and other theater accessories.

This is an ideal way of learning in a fun and creative way. A process of knowledgetriggered by the actors who direct all this innovative game.
