Material BOM

At present NAW does not have Bill of Materials in documented form.

The total product mix has got a very high degree of complexity due to large variety of

products and its variants since semi finished components are also dispatched to customers.

Such dispatches sometimes are not planned but during processing of products, some chun

of it can be !ithdra!n from production lines and dispatched to customers. "t is done on

#ustomer$s re%uest and to help them to meet urgency.

Most of the products do not have parts and one ra! material after many operations on

different machines becomes a final product.

A product having same operations and same raw material may be sold as different product

having different Product codes.

This is done mostly in case of &xport sales !hen an item from the existing range of products

has to be sold to an &xport customer.

In some products there is a variation in input weight of the child part and hence price

difference for same raw material procured from different vendors.

Routing

'esign and 'evelopment 'epartment releases (outing sheets specifying se%uence of

operations !henever a ne! product is to be developed. 'ra!ings for each operation are

also released by them.

No separate material master records are created by ')'. *perational se%uence numbers

are mentioned in the routing sheets.

Alternate or Parallel Routing

+enerally no alternate or parallel se%uence of routing has been defined. NAW follo!s one

process for a given product.

Material Master

A Material Master is a fundamental master for any business re%uirement. All the information acompany needs to manage a material is stored in a data record in the material master, sorted byvarious different criteria.

'ifferent departments in a company !or !ith the same material, but each department usesdifferent information on the material, the data in a material master record is subdivided by userdepartment.

This is illustrated in the follo!ing graphic representation

This data includes, details lie, 1nit of measure 2for the purpose of inventorying any material3,Material group 24ogical grouping of materials for the purpose of analysis3, 'ivision 2'ivision to!hich a material belongs to3. This data is maintained at the #lient level.

Sales Data

Sales data for a Material Master is maintained for a given Sales area 2comprising of Sales*rgani5ation6'istribution #hannel3. A material master can be extended to more than one Salesarea.

By extending a material to different distribution channels, it can be sold at different prices or indifferent %uantities. This allo!s, for example, the %uantity you sell to retailers to differ from the

%uantity you sell to !holesalers.

"n a given Sales area, a 7lant that is responsible to deliver the material can be mapped.S'person !ill be maintaining this vie!.

Purchase Data

All 7urchasing 'ata is 7lant specific. 8ence a Material can be designed to be procured for morethan one 7lant. All #ountry specific &xcise ) #ustoms specific details can be maintainedhere.MM person !ill be maintaining this vie!.

MRP Data

M(7 2Material re%uirement 7lanning3 is carried out at 7lant 4evel. 8ence all relevant data aremaintained for a given 7lan. "f a given material is to be planned differently for various plants !ithdifferent business rules, plant specific data related can be maintained for each plan.M(7 isexplained in the M(7 process.

Quality Management

9uality management data is managed at plant level. 7lant specific 9M data can be specific toeach plan can be maintained here. Method of inspection, !hich is specific to externalprocurement, sub:contracting ) "n:house manufacturing is maintained here. Automatic

triggering of "nspection 4ots happen here. Maintained by 9M person.

Storage:

All storage data is specific to a plant and storage location. A material can be attached to astorage location under a plant. Multiple storage locations can be attached to a given plant. This!ill be useful to analy5e the stocs. Maintained by MM person.
