CAUSES OF SMOKING-RELATED DEATHS

Cardiovascular diseases Cardiovascular diseases are diseases of the

circulatory system. These diseases include heart disease, chronic high blood pressure, and stroke.

Smoking cause the heart to work harder, cause the amount of oxygen is less than the one that is needed.

It also constricts, or tightens, the blood vessels, causing that the stress on the heart increases the risk of heart disease or heart attack.

Constricted blood vessels become more dangerous when a person has a blood clot.

If a clot can’t fit through a blood vessel it will block the flow of blood. If a blood vessel that leads to the heart is blocked, the person may have a heart attack.

Causes of death

Nicotine All forms of tobacco contains nicotine. These

chemicals enter by the mouth and lungs. After enter to the body they go to the brain and attach to the receptors on nerve cells. When the brain sends chemicals messages through the body, the nicotine effect occurs causing increased heart rate and blood pressure.

Nicotine is a very powerful drug.

Tolerance and dependence The more a person use the drug, the less effect the drug has. The process of the body getting

used to a drug is called tolerance.

Once nicotine has caused a person’s brain to change, that is dependent. Physical dependence is a state in which the body needs a drug to function normally. People who are physical dependent experience fewer effects of tobacco. It develops quickly in most tobacco users.

Drug addiction is inability to control one’s use of drug

Psychological dependence Drug addiction also affects de mind as well.

Some people think that they need tobacco feel energetic or relax, or may get so much pleasure from tobacco that they even enjoy holding a lightning cigarette. At these point they are mental dependence. Psychological dependence is a state in which you think you need a drug in order to function.

Withdrawal When tobacco users are dependent on nicotine, they feel uncomfortable without tobacco, they will have withdrawal. Withdrawal is the way in which the body responds when a dependent person stops using a drug. Withdrawal from nicotine may cause: *Anxious *Irritable *Tired *Headaches *Poor concentration

Relapse Most of the people want to quit, but at the

month they relapse. Relapse is to begging using a drug again after stopping for awhile.

Cessation Most people decide quitting by the method of

cold turkey, but most people need professional help, or cessation. Cessation is the act of stopping something entirely and permanently

Using medicine Medicines can help people quitting, and a research shows that the people that use

medicine is the one that have more success quitting

One of the hardest parts of quitting is withdrawal from nicotine. Nicotine replacement therapy (NRT) is a form of medicine that contains safe amounts of nicotine. These small amounts of nicotine reduce withdrawal discomfort so that quitting is easier. Nicotine gum and patches are the most common forms of NRT. Before using any therapy with medicines you will need to go to a doctor.

Most of teens began to smoke cause peer pressure. Peer pressure is a strong influence from friend or a class mate.

But peer pressure is not only cause that why people and teen smoke. Also seeing someone you really admire smoking can influence strongly your beliefs about tobacco. Also TV and other ads can influence it to.

Also seeing the parents smoke influence, the child may began to modeling. Modeling is when you base your behavior on how others act .

Being tobacco free is the coolest think in the world, cause you are health in mental and physical ways. Also you have a better social health too, and all of these cause you use the next words when someone ask you for smoke:

No

No, thanks

Because I don’t want to

No thanks my parents will kill me

Or also by positive peer pressure, so just be your self and don’t let get influence.
