RECORD NUMBER OF TOP A LEVEL GRADES
AT EASTBURY COMMUNITY SCHOOL
Eastbury Community School
celebrates another set of
excellent A level results with 99%
pass rate.
Eastbury Community School is delighted to
announce another highly successful year for
Sixth Form students who have once again
exceeded our expectations and produced
the A level and BTEC results which will enable
them to go on to an outstanding range of
Universities, Modern Apprenticeships and
professions. Over half of all grades achieved
at A Level were at A* to B (53%) and 1 in 5
(18%) were A*/A grades. We are very proud
of all our students.
Students are very proud about their
achievements
Many students have achieved excellent
results but particular mention should go to the
following students for excellent results –
Karima Abdou (2A*&1 B): Ayesha Ali (3B);
Rosie Betteridge (1 A*& 2A); Sophie De'Ath (1
A*& 2A); Kirndeep Kaur (3B); Kira Kemp (3B);
Hinna Mirza (1A & 2B); Rehab-Al Mohsin (3A &
1B); Ernest Peka (1A*1A & 1B); Victoria Prue (1
A*& 2B); Harkirat Riyat; 1 A*& 2B; Mathna
Saadi (3B); Anjali Singh (1A*, 1A & 1C);
Chamique Willock (1A & 2B); and Zeyana
Yussuf (2A*& 1B).
Zeyana Yussuf gains place to study Human,
Social & Political Science at Cambridge
University
Top Universities are now getting ready to
welcome students from Eastbury including
Cambridge, Kings College, University College
London, Queen Mary’s, Bristol, Warwick,
Birmingham, SOAS, Manchester and Bath to
study a range of exciting subjects. We are
also pleased that an increasing number of
students will be progressing to higher level
Modern Apprenticeships. “All of the students I
spoke to unanimously would like to thank their
teachers for their support and hard work
during their time at school. Many commented
on the fact that they now realise that hard
work and perseverance pays off.”
Everybody at Eastbury (Staff, Governors and
students) congratulates Zeyana Yussuf on
winning a place to study English at one of the
top universities in the world – Cambridge. We
wish her every success.
RECORD NUMBER OF TOP GCSE GRADES
AT EASTBURY COMMUNITY SCHOOL
Another great year for GCSE results
with a record number of the top
A*/A Grades.
Eastbury has built on its success in recent years
with 61% of students achieving A*-C grades in
GCSE English and Mathematics, and a
staggering number of 116 students achieving
a top grade A*/A in their favourite subject,
with more than 1 in 10 of students achieving
5+A*/A grades. Nearly 1 in 2 students
achieved at least 1 top A*/A grade. The GCSE
results and progress data clearly demonstrates
that students of all abilities have worked hard
and made excellent progress.
In recent years exams have become more
rigorous and there have been changes to the
way students are assessed (more end of
course exams, less coursework and no early
entry). Eastbury is pleased that it continues to
build on the huge improvements in results in
recent years with a year group that has faced
many personal challenges.
Strong performing departments include
Biology (41% A*/A &92% A*-C); ,Chemistry
(32% A*/A & 93% A*-C); Physics (47% A*/A &
88% A*-C); Computing Science (39% A*/A &
84% A*-C); English Literature (20% A*/A & 68%
A*-C); Mathematics (21% A*/A & 68% A*-C);
French (17% A*/A & 57% A*-C); Statistics (36%
A*/A & 87% A*-C); Drama (15% A*/A 87% A*-
C); Eastbury is proud that the vast majority of
students also studying vocational courses such
as Hospitality and Catering, and Physical
Education; achieved grades A*-C with many
getting the top A*/A grade.
Eastbury is extremely proud of the
achievements of all students. It is very difficult
to get the outstanding grades, the school is
therefore especially pleased with the 3 top
students, Hamaad Aslam, Rebecca Nam and
Karina Prokofjeva who achieved a highly
impressive 10 A*/A and the 18 students who
gained 8 or more top grades A*/A (Raisha
Amin; Junaid Butt; Cathy Davouloury; Artenisa
Deda; Maryam Sarwar; Muhammad Remon
Akbor Mohammed Amaan Aslam; Zahra
Bashir; Maymunah Hussain; Toran Joyce;
Husam Khan; Zahra Mansuri; Ishak-Jamil
Munaim; Edi Rama; and Shwan Salah. 37
students achieved 5 or more grade A*/A. 75
students, over 1 in 4 students achieved at least
2A*/A grades and 116 students achieved at
least 1A*/A grade.
We are delighted that so many of our
successful students are choosing to study in
our achieving sixth form. We are also pleased
that many have secured places in local
colleges to study course that we cannot offer
in our sixth form. Early indicators suggest that
we have 100% of students participating in
education after year 11.
EXTRA CURRICULAR SUCCESSES
At Eastbury, we believe that students will only develop as positive members of their
community through engagement inside and outside of the classroom. Stubbers, The Race
for Life and the Tall Trips expedition are all examples of the remarkable range of
opportunities available to students.
SPORTS SUCCESS
Our PE department has experienced another year of extraordinary success with students
attending university summer schools, the incredible world ranking of the Futsal squad
and the department being chosen as a model of outstanding practice by Ofsted.

Tim Prendegast - Paralympian
At eight years of age Tim
Prendergast began losing his
sight, and within five years his
vision had depleted by over 90
per cent. Despite this and the
troubles he experienced whilst
he was coming to terms with his
impairment, Tim still maintained
a burning passion for sport and
found real enjoyment in running.
Success was not a given, and Tim tried and
failed in many races as a junior. In 2004 Tim
represented New Zealand at his second
Paralympic Games in Athens, winning a
gold medal in the T13 800 metres contest.
At London 2012 Tim ran his fastest time at a
major championship but unfortunately was
edged out of the medals.
Tim hopes that sharing his own experience
of overcoming disability to succeed will
inspire the pupils he meets to overcome
their own obstacles, and having been an
Athlete Mentor for a number of years, is
now a Senior Athlete Mentor. In this role, Tim
uses the expertise he has gained from
previous years on the initiative to visit
schools which have already completed Sky
Sports Living for Sport projects and help
them to continue to develop and improve
their students’ lives through sport.
Commenting on his role as an Athlete
Mentor, Tim says: “I love working with young
people and sharing my story to try and
inspire others. Sky Sports Living for Sport is
powerful on so many levels; it flexes to suit
whoever needs support or help in any
aspect of their lives, which allows teachers
to really hone in on areas they want to
focus on with their students.
“I’ve had to overcome a lot of challenges
in my life and it’s the way you deal with
them that makes you a stronger person.
Struggling to deal with sight loss was
extremely hard when I was young, but my
attitude changed for the better as a result.
This is the message I like to get across to the
young people I meet.” https://

Dear Parents/Carers
RE: Parent View
As part of Eastbury School’s self-evaluation
process, we very much value working in
partnership with parents and carers to help us
continually enhance the quality of the
education that we provide to our students.
Parent View is an on-line questionnaire and the
main source for gathering parents’ and carers’
views about Eastbury School when it is
inspected by OFSTED.
Inspectors weigh the views of parents and
carers alongside first-hand evidence gathered
during an inspection when coming to a view
about the overall effectiveness of the school.
The link to setting up a login to review Eastbury
School can be found at:
www.parentview.ofsted.gov.uk
You will be required to enter an email address
and a password before completing the
questionnaire to ensure the security of the
website. If you fill in the questionnaire for
Eastbury School more than once using the
same email address in the same academic
year, your previous entry will be overwritten.
All entries to Parent View are anonymous and
the school will not have access to any
information that can be used to identify a
respondent. If there are parents/carers
who hold different views about the school,
each person is able to complete the
questionnaire but must use a different
email address.
Parent View asks parents and carers to
give their views on twelve aspects of your
child’s experience at Eastbury School
ranging from the quality of teaching, to
how well the school deals with bullying
and poor behaviour. You are able to give
your views using a four point scale, from
strongly agree to strongly disagree.
The results of questionnaires that have
been completed are published in real
time and are available to Eastbury School,
other parents/carers and the general
public. At the end of the academic year, the
results for Eastbury School will be frozen and a
new set of results will begin. This allows us to
make comparisons between the results from
one year to another.
I very much appreciate and value the time that
you give up to feedback your views about
Eastbury School through the completion of the
questionnaire on Parent View and our other
questionnaires that we send to you. If you have
any further questions or concerns about the
process, please do not hesitate to contact
Stavey Primus on 020 8507 4528 who will be
able to help you.
If you have a day-to-day concern can you
contact your child’s form tutor or Head of Year
in the first instance, if the matter is not resolved
please then contact your child’s Senior link for
the Year group
In the rare event that your concern is not
resolved can you then contact Mr Keith Coffey
(The school’s complaint officer) who will support
you and make the Executive Head Teacher Mr
David Dickson aware.
I would like to thank you for all of your support in
helping the school to provide a first rate
education.
Yours sincerely
David Dickson - Executive Headteacher

“I am extremely pleased that so many students at Eastbury and across the borough
have achieved success. Our students have made excellent progress with a record
breaking number achieving the top grades in their favourite subjects. The number of
higher grades compares extremely well with the national averages and puts Eastbury
in line with some of the best schools and academies in London. We must all
remember that exam results are not just statistics; they are the result of hard work and
are the passport to many jobs. I am absolutely delighted for all those who have
worked hard to secure the grades needed for their chosen University, Modern
Apprenticeship or job. All, whatever their pathway, have made an excellent start to
their careers. We are all constantly trying to improve results to improve the life
chances of our students and help them onto their next step in their careers. I would
like to thank all the staff for their hard work, professionalism and the many hours they
have put in to ensure these amazing results. I would also like to thank our caring
families, Governors and Local Authority who have provided support and
encouragement. It is a privilege to work with such a dedicated staff team and
enthusiastic students.”
