Position: Religious Studies Teacher Saint Mary’s College High School is seeking a Religious Studies teacher for full-time position who creates academic excellence and fully participates in our diverse community. Saint Mary’s College High School is a Catholic Lasallian college preparatory located in North Berkeley. Operating in a trimester format, we offer a progressive college-preparatory education to an ethnically and economically diverse student body. We pursue academic achievement, student wellness, and community. We are a professional learning community that employs a Backward Design approach to course design, instruction, and assessment. Minimum Requirements for Teaching Faculty at Saint Mary’s:

• Bachelor of Arts Degree in Religious Studies or closely related field • Religious Education Certification preferred • California Teaching Credential or Masters Degree in Education • Active participation in the co-curricular and spiritual life of the school • Experience with constructivist teaching methodology and outcome-based assessment

and grading • Ability to regularly employ appropriate educational technology in the classroom

Responsibilities:

• Excellent organizational and communication skills • Experience working with a wide variety of people • Must be able to read, write and speak fluent English • Ability to legally work in the United States (HIB and H2B Visa is not available)

Preferred Qualifications

• Strong computer skills • Bilingual • Experience working with high school students • Experience working in a Catholic school • Teaching experience is preferred • Catholic applicants are preferred

Physical Requirements

• Ability to lift 25 lbs. without help • Ability to look at a monitor for long periods of time • Ability to sit for long periods of time

General Information:

• Full-time, 10-month, permanent, exempt position • Eligible for full benefits • Work hours may vary (including some evening and weekend events) • This is not a telecommuting position
